Default Motorcraft oil filters

Why does every place show that the FL500S is not compatible with my truck? Walmart, Amazon, and any parts places say it’s not the right filter, but as far as I can tell this is the only filter for 2011-2021 5.0s. It’s also the filter that was already on the truck. Seems like a weird issue to have on one of the most common vehicles on the road. I ran into this today since I decided I’d change the oil myself.

Anyone else have issues with parts places saying this filter isn’t compatible?

Rock Auto lists that filter for my 2019 5.0

Those sites aren't always accurate. The manual is, though. Or just look at what is on the truck...but yeah, you're on the right filter.

Yeah I should have said that. Rock Auto was right. I bought the filter at Walmart even though they said it was wrong. It was just weird, never had that problem. Sad that I went 4 years before I changed the oil myself on this truck though.

Watch out for gray market items on Amazon. Lots of counterfeit out there

I would also advise against any Motorcraft parts from Amazon...

Use Rockauto, Walmart or (gasp) the dealer.

Yeah... Amazon is going to crap in a hurry. There's a *ton* of counterfeit listings up there now. Even stuff sold from and shipped by Amazon has issues.
