Misfire codes changing?pending
F150 4.6l. 2008 PO305 pending after 3 months of winter shutdown. This was set during a 10-15 idle up, no driving. A day later I decided to erase that pending code and take a short drive. The truck did not go above 30 mph because I was Ina backroad. It didn't seem to be rough or midwife but it did trigger a pending PO304 code this time. The following day I took it out on the road. During flash up no check engine light. After getting up to 40 mph truck began to feel rough and I could feel and hear it missing. No check engine light however. Then the ABS alert came on. Managed to get truck home driving secondary roads, no way it wanted to go beyond 45 mph. Still no check engine light but now I have pending except i now have codes still have abs alert suggestions anyone ? except I now have pending PO 300 and PO306 codes. Suggestions anyone? ABS alert still there, no check engine warning.
You posted this in the 2015 and up forum and should consider posting again in the forum specific to your truck. (This post might get moved for you.)
However.... it sounds like you likely have multiple problems going on, and I really doubt that the abs and engine lights are related. Ford doesn’t provide “live” misfire data like other manufacture do. They do provide a cylinder balance test which is the first step I would take with your truck. Watching the cylinder balance test would help narrow down the culprit cylinder(s) so that you can proceed with figuring out the source of the misfire(s). I would suspect either a bad coil(s) or simply fouled plugs of both.
Keep your our fingers crossed that your 2008 has the newer design spark plugs (2008 was a split year) and not the break off and extract failure of a design Ford used from 2004-2008.
