Default Miles until empty Reset

Anyone know how to reset the Mile Per Tank estimate?

When I first got the truck I was doing a lot of highway miles. It showed 7xx miles until empty. I then towed my boat (~7.5k) ~600 miles. As you would expect, mileage was poor and this was accurately reflected in miles to empty (like 275 when full).

Now that I am not towing, it is slowly creeping back up. I am currently at ~408. What I would like to do is simply restart it so that the two miles are no longer considered.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Aubrey

Maybe disconnect the battery and let the system reset after connecting it again. Or just let it catch up on its own, I think things like that usually take about 500 miles or so. The miles to empty and mpg displayed are usually off anyway. Best way is to fill up, drive till next fill up, divide miles driven by the gallons put back in and you get a better idea of mpgs and how far a tank will go.

Thanks. BTW: I did read the owners manual end to end. It is 596 pages of double column.

It uses the most recent 500 miles. There is no reset nor any need to do so.

It'll adjust... You can always select one of your trip-meter options in the in dash if you want to have a more accurate consumption. Mine shows 12L/100km while I know I am doing 16L/100 (my first big ride was a 400km trip on the freeway) so I will most likely not do what's shown on my screen (1200kms/tank) but it will drop anytime soon.

This does not reset miles to empty. As mentioned there isn't a reset for that. The vehicle requires historical data to give an estimate, so a reset would be counter productive, it would just say 0 miles to empty when reset, because it has no idea what your historic MPG was. It just uses a rolling (according to others 500 mile) reading.

Read the owners manual before telling someone else to read the owners manual for an answer that doesn't exist.

Here it is, feel free to show the part that says holding down will reset DTE, NOT average MPG.

It's funny to watch the DTE climb now and then after unhooking the trailer from a long trip. The 500 miles thing seems about right. I'll go through a full 36 gal tank and then the next tank is back to normal estimates.

There is a DTE option on the last tab of the dash, DTE Empty or DTE towing.
