The simple presence of DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder was not a factor in my decision between brands. I still preferred the push-rod GM 6.2L over all other engine options, but for points 1-4 as well as a lot of other details that GM seemed to overlook, Ford was still the clear winner. Things like the LED tailgate light, better integrated bed lighting, mirror spotlights, lane keep assist, trailer pro backup, auto-parking and other tech items made the Ford seem years ahead of the GM twins.

I also think that it's because the Chevy/GMC twins are reaching the end of their design cycle. The redesigned models are due in 2019 and I bet their sales will spike when they come out.

Even though they're behind in tech GM still seems to sell a ****load of 1/2 tons. Then when it comes to truck based SUVs it's game over, GM crushes Ford in a very profitable sector. I'm not a fanboy of either and would own both Ford and GM again.

I think two things that the Chev's and Gm 1/2 tons have going for them is better fuel economy and a better /quieter ride. My nephew has a 2015 chev and my brother's son-in-law has a 2016 GM. I went up North with my nephew a few weeks ago and did notice that his truck was quieter than my son's 16 XLT. and achieved considerably better fuel economy as well. Would I want one, no. I just can't get over the squared wheel wells, among other things.

...and speaking of tech Ford seems to not want to give the mid/low trims this revolutionary feature called 4A. My 2005 Silverado LT had that. Once you have that feature you kinda always want it.

If it wasn't such a PITA to find a 6.2 equiped Silverado on a dealer's lot I'd probably be in one now. I'm glad I have my F150 now and in hindsight it was the right decision for me, but if the 6.2 were readily available 2 years ago....
