DO you like Waze over Apple Maps?

Thanks.. the Comments were Interesting.

I made a typo... NA 2 21 maps were made available November 21. Installed by me in March of 22.

As of Today - NA 2.22 is NOT available... So it is looking like we may not get "Yearly" updates, rather, we will get Random Updates. (Note: there was a 2 year gap before NA 2 21.

*** I learned the hard way by making myself a fool, by not researching FIRST.. Rather, I just assumed the new maps were available and went through all the download install process, only to get errors on install!. Then, while trying to figure out the errors, I discovered I was trying to install the same maps I already had.

Yes... I am aware of Car Play, and I have an Android Phone.. Somehow, I managed to always want/need maps, when I don't have good cell service! (FYI: If you only have a Cell phone, SYGIC comes in handy - or plan ahead and download your route for offline.) BUT: I actually, really do like using my built in NAV unit. plus I have a Garmin installed that is a Drive Cam, and I often have it showing me long view of my routes.

My point wasn't whether or not the Built in Nav was worth a poop or not.. Rather, My point was that Ford is sort of ripping people off, who pay for 5 years of updates, but don't get updates yearly.

Such is life.. We Live... We Learn.

We may still not be aligned on dates - according to my notes, file timestamps on my computer, and some Googling, NA 2.21 came out (officially) fall of 22. It was released via unofficial means in spring of 22. I'm seeing similar notes, timestamps, Googling for NA 2.20 maps as having a September 21 release. So if you purchased a subscription in March of 22, you should have gotten NA 2.20, and then NA 2.21 in fall of 22. The Ford Map Update site says "one update per year" in the subscription detail page for USB updates, however I take that to mean they will release one update and mail you the USB drive per year for that plan, but the digital download doesn't mention a limit, so I would assume in your case, you should have gotten the NA 2.20 (March) and NA 2.21 (fall) update in the same calendar year if you chose the digital subscription. I don't think Ford offered the option to pay for a multi-year update prior to NA20/NA 21 being available, so a gap in releases prior to NA 20 may not have really mattered in that sense.

NA 2.22 is not available today, and will (likely) come out fall of this year (23).

I don't necessarily think you've missed out on any updates, but if you purchased a subscription in March, you might technically get shorted one release if the releases continue to be in the fall.

Same here.

The subscription says it's for "5 years, one update per year" so at the end of the subscription I'd be calling Ford customer service if I hadn't received 5 updates.

I used the Sync updater from https://cyanlabs.net/ and installed Sync and the newest maps. It is working perfectly. Just read the instructions thoroughly. I believe there is a youtube tutorial as well. I watched it and paused it to make sure it was done perfectly. You do have to install a program on your computer to configure your specific install. Bonus its free!

Well.... I received an Email from Ford last night, telling Map Updates are available... I did the Download from Ford, and it now says I have 2.22 on my truck... So the maps come out in the end of August - - Note to Self.

Install went smooth... took an hour and 20 minutes.

They come out a different month every year. Since I bought my 2019 in 2019, an update has come out in mid-2020, spring of 2022, and this week. I got the email on Friday, but I'd already downloaded and installed the update last Monday. My installation took over 2 hours and 20 minutes, the longest yet. Hard to fathom why trucks running the same OS take vastly different amounts of time to install an update.

I am member of 2 hr/20 minute club also. 2019 produced in June 2019.

First time had to purchase update also.

All worked just fine for installation.

Map updates come out September/October for the previous year, almost like maps are in arrears 1 year.

So my map update for Oct. 2022 was maps 2021 (NA 2 21)

Why by map updates when you can download them to a thumb drive and upload them for free?

This is soooo dumb hahahah. Eat my words... I went to look today for my "free: map update.. No longer free.

I'd have to pay $109 to download it to my USB or pay $149 for the download and they'll provide the USB.. SOOO DUMB..

So I can no longer get map updates unless I buy them??
