Default 523400 Miles

Does anyone have any insight with what could be going on with my odometer. 2015 XLT 3.5L. I noticed in January that my odometer read over 523k miles with 1800 engine hour. Not possible. Thats an average of 288 mph. Took to dealer, they kept truck for couple days to come back with detective cluster. New 8" upgrade cluster was couple hundred more than the oe 4" so I went with the upgrade. The new cluster was programmed with 53000 miles which the dealer estimated would be pretty accurate due to my service intervals. All seemed good to go until recently. I jumped from 61494 miles with 2070 engine hours to 69876 with 2079 hours from Thursday to Tuesday. Engine hours seems to be on track, I checked odometer with GPS which is spot on along with speed. The oil percentage on the last photo is off too considering I just had truck serviced 08-13. Has anyone else ran across this issue or know what the malfunction could be.

Wow odd issue! Why can't it break in the other direction? Sounds like the issue was not with the cluster. My guess is the speed sensor is not registering properly and making the computer think you are going way faster than you are. Does the speedo ever fluctuate? Try using it with the digital speedo enabled to see if it ever jumps to light speed for a moment.

Not sure I've seen that one before. Will be interested to find out what the cause is.

Maybe a Black Hole somewhere close to where you live?

Several reports of similar happenings. It happened to me twice.

Did you have any type of canbus gadget in the OBDII port, like an insurance data logger, camera module, Auto start/stop defeater?

Thanks for the reply.

I do have a PAC BCI-FD21 that I am using for front camera interfacing. Hmmm. Looks like there may be a link using camera interfaces. Not sure if the PAC piece and EVI piece are one
in the same. Surprised there aren't more reports of issues if it is caused from using a camera interface, seems like a popular upgrade. Iv'e had mine inline for at least three years now, and love it. Is there another
option to get a front camera on screen?

Within a week of buying my truck i also used a Hypertech Speedometer Calibration Tool, so maybe that could also be a possibility?

I looked at that PAC BCI-FD21 and it looks exactly the same as the EVI camera module sold by Camera-source. Doesn't mean it is the same or use same software but it does make one wonder.

I find it interesting:
it happened on the original cluster in my truck, and the replacement cluster, both times with the EVI module.
it happened to you twice, on the original cluster and the replacement cluster, I assume the PAC module was in both times.
it happened to "Captain d" in the link I sent, on his original cluster and the replacement cluster, though he never answered if he had any OBDII devices installed.
it happened to "carrierj" once and I think I read he posted somewhere he had the EVI in his truck, but unknown if it was installed when his odometer flipped out.

Interesting yours went three years with no problems. I took the EVI module out after the second time. Too bad, it worked well and at times was nice to have.

Not to get too far off topic - but the dealer ordered you an 8" cluster with you only paying the difference?

I'm a little surprised - usually they are pretty strict on only allowing replacements with as-built equipment by the VIN.

No, they didn't ask about anything on the bus system, nor did it dawn on me to think that could be an issue. Sometimes things just work for so long you forget about the additional parts that maybe a factor.

Correct, they weren't interested in upgrading the cluster for me. I went with a third party vendor after discussing with my service writer.
