Default Locks

Is there a way to turn the horn beep off when locking all the doors on 2015 f150 Crew?

Only hit the button on the key fob once... Twice makes it beep.

I have gotten in the habit of just hitting the lock button on my door when I get out of my truck. This will set the alarm without the horn beep and also puts less wear and tear on your FOB.

Both of these are true. I use #2 for the less wear on the fob reason.

Exactly this, there is no reason to hit the button twice when locking if you hear it lock. Even if your truck is set to only unlock the driver door when unlocking if hit once, it always locks all doors when locking when hit once.

The beep, that people sometimes seem to just love to hear over and over for whatever damn reason, only serves to confirm it was locked if you are out of earshot of actually hearing the doors lock. It servers no other purpose. If it doesn't beep but you hear the doors lock, it is just as locked as it would be as if you hit it twice.

So just hit it once and walk on.

But you lose the assurance of knowing you're not going to lock your keys in the ignition.

No you don't. If the keys are in the ignition, the door won't lock. Now, if you lay the keys on the SEAT, that is a different matter. But, then you have the doorpost keypad.

Old habits are tough to change.

I owned a 2009 Tacoma that had an aftermarket security system. It was totaled recently while I was stopped at a red light controlled intersection. It took multiple hits on the fob to lock or unlock the system. Each time the horn would sound also. It drove me crazy trying to change the sound and repeated key hits.

I am well pleased with the response of the fob on my Lariat and the integrated button on the door handle is the best ever for me. However, I have only had the Lariat for a few weeks and still occasionally double tap the key fob.

WOW. I wasn't aware of this. Why didn't they think of this many years ago? That's one of the biggest benefits I got from AAA before I learned to hide a key. I bet AAA contractors took a big hit with this upgrade (or whatever you'd call it).
