Default Locking lug nuts

With the increase in wheel thefts, is it worth investing in locking lug nuts? I'm sure if they want them they will get them!!
or would they be a deterrent for them to try another vehicle!
What would you recommend for my 2020 4x4 STX with 20" wheels?

Where are you that you're concerned about it? According to an article I just read, wheel thefts are up 11% nationwide in the past year. 111% of a small risk, is still a small risk. A couple of cities seem to have seen more, most places less.

I had locking nuts on my wheels for many years, but it was always a bit if a hassle to keep up with the key, and make sure I got it back after service, and I rarely park in any sketchy areas where lifting a truck and removing all 4 wheels might go unnoticed. Plus I figure any determined wheel thief knows how to remove wheel locks quickly, the most obvious way being to break into the vehicle and retrieve the key that is undoubtedly sitting in the glove box or console. So I removed and sold them, and have had no issues since.

They will only slow a casual thief down. Not worth the hassle in my opinion.

So basically they appear to be a waste of time and money, if they want your wheels it's not going to slow them down much!!!

I have cheapo steel rims I just got done painting. That being said I'm going to be spending over $800 for cheap tires. So I'm going to get locking lug nuts for mine. If they are going to take them....they are going to have to work for them.
Now that I retired in Sept of last year, $800 takes a lot longer for me to save.

That could still weed out a lot of thieves, though. It's a cheap deterrent. OP wouldn't be out much money to do it.

I got rid of the OEM lug nuts which were junk, the new nuts came with a socket,.......

Maybe so. 🤷 It took me about 2 minutes to figure out the correct size socket to lightly hammer onto the locking lug nut for my C6 Corvette and remove it (after my dumb butt drove off with the lock on the lug nut after working on the car, but that's a different story ). Even a casual thief will have the correct equipment to quickly remove them. I didn't bother to get a new key, I bought a new set of black Gorilla nuts for less than the cost of the key.

And certainly won't need. They'll just break into the truck and use yours, or use a locking pliers.

Really though, unless you spend a lot of time with your nice truck parked in sketchy parking lots or on urban streets overnight, it's probably not worth worrying about.
