Why not get them? If they stop one un-ambitious thief you’re ahead of the game.

I lost my gorilla “key.” I ended up using a socket and tapping it on with a mini sledge. Took me an extra 10 sec per wheel, lol. I’m sure a decent thief preps for that.

There is no insurance discount for them, so based on that, if they want my tires and wheel go for it!

That's my usual philosophy, but it's become apparent that wheel locks are no deterrent at all. Watch the video posted above - there isn't one lock that can't be removed very quickly by an amateur and a couple cheap, common tools.

my opinion would be, if I was buying a set of lug nuts, I would opt for one with a lock or maybe a splined set that might be harder to get.

i wouldn’t actively add a lock for no reason. Most of us lock our doors as a deterrent to quick theft (crack heads looking for small stuff or money), we don’t lock it expecting Fort Knox. Thieves that ride around with the tools and a plan to steal wheels, will get your wheels. Just like thieves that target vehicles to take, will take it one way or the other.

True, neither will stop a determined thief. But door locks do deter the sort of casual thief who pulls door handles on parked cars to see if he can score some of the valuables careless people leave inside. There are enough unlocked doors they don't need to risk getting caught breaking through doors that are usually connected to alarms, or with the tools that provide probable cause, for a few bucks.

There's no such thing as a casual wheel thief. He's coming prepared for wheel locks and won't be put off by them.

I do run them on my Shelby, but it doesn't really get parked anywhere that often. I'd say best option is to minimize the risk by parking in non-sketchy areas... then locking lug nuts will be a good deterrent to start.

I still have one from advance wheel locks and another which I don't remember if gorilla's or mcgard.
Won't stop a determined thief with all the time but at least some opportunist
