Default Leather-wrap steering?

is there any feasible way to leather-wrap an XL plastic steering wheel? I know I can buy a leather-wrapped one and install it, but a) that's uber expensive + uber labor and b) not interested in dismantling my truck to that degree at the moment.... Is there any feasible way for an upholstery shop to wrap it? I know about Wheelskins, but I dislike that you can still tell they were added on. May still be better than the plastic, though.

Prob be cheaper to just buy an OEM one....this "uber" labor and dismantling of your truck is nothing. It's a 10 minute job and your upholster shop would have to take off your steering wheel anyways.

I know that if I had the plain steering wheel I would rather go to
Amazon Amazon
and get a leather wrapping kit than what they call leather on my XLT.

Honestly, you're not missing anything with the fake "leather"... Still feel like cheap plastic. Then again, it's just a steering wheel... You'll probably find something nicer aftermarket that you can just throw on.

So.... they don't use real leather on the leather-wrapped wheels?? My Honda Civic Si had real leather on the wheel, yeesh....Hrmph.

Any specific product to search on Amazon or elsewhere? I am not necessarily stuck on super high quality leather, I just dislike the texture on the plastic wheel and don't want to wait 5 years for it to wear down from me touching it :P

Does anyone have pictures of aftermarket leather wrapped wheels? I would like to see how they look before buying.

You've basically got 4 levels of options:

1 - Walmart wheel cover - $15 - looks and feels like crap, 1 minute install
2 - Wheelskin cover - $60 - feels good, doesnt' look bad, 1 hour install
3 - OEM Limited/Platinum wheel - $200 - feels good, looks stock, 15 minute install
4 - OEM Raptor wheel - $360 - feels awesome, looks awesome, 15 minute install (add $50 and 30 minutes if you want functional paddle shifters)

If you can poke a stick in a hole and loosen a nut that’s all it takes. No technical knowledge needed. The video explains it all. And regarding others opinion about it being crappy it’s actually nice. Yes I know $130 is not Uber cheap but if you do this you won’t regret it. Also it is real leather (and it is an improved leather.)

I suppose the XLT/Lariat leather wheel is a 5th option that's around $130, but no one seems very happy with the leather quality on that wheel and lots of those guys upgrade to the Limited/Platinum wheel.
