Angry Leaf spring isolator pads replace, still a clunk..

Replaced them last weekend....what a pain in the *** that was do to them being as flat as paper and with one being non existent. Felt like the leaf springs were glued together. Anyways, I have some major creaking from, what I assume was separating the leaf springs and pushing dirt/grime whatever in between when prying them apart to put the new ones in. Took some Krown lubricant and went to town in between to push out anything that might of got jammed in between. Didn't notice anything in the driveway, but the creaking is gone.

I went to lunch just now from work and the back end was clunking while going into raised parking lots. Even through the lot itself (abandoned and full of divets, holes, bumps, etc.) I know my upper ball joints are toast and need replacing so I can clearly hear whether it's front or back. WTF is causing this? Ujoint bolts don't appear loose. Everything else seems decent. They weren't OEM pads because my dealers wanted $27.99+ per pad. Not as thick as the ATQ ones but were as thick as OEM at least.

They were black pads.

I’d order the ford pads online.

what material are the 3rd party pads? That might cause creaking as that’s exactly why the junk ATQ or whatever pads got tossed.

i also don’t recommend any lube as it tends to attract dirt and debris.

It was never specified and I don't see what they are made from on Amazon. Company/manufacturer is called Eosorssa. Claims to replace the proper part number from Ford.

Do you have a picture of what you replaced....I don't think it is the pad/seperator causing the clunk but the sort of U shaped retainer that is spread out too much....I think people are usinf a C-clamp to press it back together to get rid of the clunk....at least that is what I plan to try.

This is the bushings I replaced. Look identical to Fords OEM parts. I know what you mean about the u shaped clamp. Are people using a C-clamp on the leafs themseleves? Or overtop the U clamp.

If it was clunking before and now it’s creaking, I’d be afraid they are made with some type of poly material.

my advice would be to find the pads online at a cheaper price, swap them out, and take time to clean out everything once you have it spread apart…when they wear, they will 100% cause a clunk (obviously not the only thing that’ll cause a clunk) but if your clunk is now a creak, that’s what I got when I swapped to poly pads.

clean leaf springs with the Motorcraft isolator pads was the only thing that got me 20-30k miles of quiet.

No creak. Still clunking like before. Figured these would fix it considering the old pads were paper thin.

From what I read people are putting them over the top of the U clamp but not positive, I have not had a chance to do it myself yet.

No worries. Originally after replacing them they was terrible creaking but after applying Krown lubricant/rust inhibitor it has done it since. Now it continues the clunking.
