Hmm, thank you for this. I may have to check these more closely. Maybe mine have a bit of a gap causing them to shift.

it's not the top gap, it's the side gap from my understanding.

I bought brand new leafs - just waiting to install at this point. We'll see....

To note, there is still a decent side gap on those clamps from the factory.

I had that issue about 2 years back. Took my '16 truck into Ford under the ESP. so dealer replaces just the front pads with the newer version ones. I drove out of the garage and over the speed bump and had the same clunk. I turned around and back into the garage. They replaced the rear 2 and pulled out and hit the speed bump and clunk, lol. Back in the shop. Put it on the rack, called a a different tech over, he grabs the rear of my leaf springs at the shackles-bingo- right side leaf side was sloppy @ about 42,500 miles. They replaced the leaf spring bushing and truck has no more noise. Sad bushing failed that early.

Not sure if this is the cause of the clunk but the inner part of the U clamp is clearly not as close to the springs as the opposite side.

In this photo it looks as though the top leaf as shift out towards the road side slightly. The passenger side leaf looks fine.

Passenger side.

Did you already check the other stuff back there that can cause a clunk? The shock bolts and the spare tire?

yes. Doesn’t appear to be anything loose. That’s the only culprit I could find as of yet.

Double check U-bolt torque just to rule that out also.
