Here in Florida, love bugs, if left on your car's painted finish will damage the paint/clear coat.....lol to me this doesnt look like rock chips, however, even if it is bug splatter etc. the dealership still wont cover this under warranty as it is not seen as a manf defect but rather environmental/atmospheric fall out. As far as touch up paint, yeah you wont find that for the black grille that is specific. For your body in Lithium Grey yeah, but not the grille. That grille is not painted the same as the body, meaning it is not as durable. Crazy huh? If you plan to keep this grille and not change it out, you could get it repainted black or body color using PPG paint and a true clear urethane top coat. That will make your grille a good deal more durable. Hope this helps.

I have the same grille, and I was always under the impression it is just black plastic. I didn't think it was actually painted.

I think if it were just black plastic it wouldnt look like this even with a golf ball sized rock hit because it is an injection mould plastic form. The color would be not just on the surface, but throughout by way of the process of design.

Not the first time I've seen the black part of the grille get chipped like this on here. If the surrounding metal(aluminum I know) was chipped as well, that would be one thing, but this seems to be only this part of the grille. There's another thread I'm part of, where the guy had his grille repainted, but they used clear that was too glossy, so it looks like crap.

What's the material under the chip? Bare plastic, or Chrome? I know some companies like Nissan, will just spray flat black over chrome on grille pieces.

It's an off white plastic. No Chrome under there that I can tell. I also assumed that it was plastic that was that color not painted white plastic.
If the whole front of my truck was covered and chips not just the grill obviously it would be Rock chips. But I've only got 4500 miles now I can only imagine what it'll look like after 40000

The first time I took it up there at 2000 miles they offered to sell me a magnetic gray Lariat Grill at cost for $300. I'm guessing if they decide to warranty it it will be the same and hopefully they won't repeat it like guys Grill in the link. I would love for them to color match it though. If they can do a good job

Everything is painted. I don't see why the OP can't just repaint himself it's just black...
