OP Kendive is without a doubt not a troll. Look at his posts. Not trying to be a jerk, but like the Ford dealer said you are trying to warranty an item that was damaged from environmental factors. If you get hail damage Ford sure as hell wouldn't cover that. Kendive was stating if you paint it matte black yourself you can easily touch it up. I agree with you not wanting to paint. But sadly based how you have been affected it seems this could be a recurring issue.
I hope Ford gives you a new grill out of good faith but i wouldn't cross my fingers. Keep us posted!

Suggesting that I rattle can the grill on my brand new truck, is in my book trolling. Had I been tail gating a semi or dump truck and this happened. I would concede to this being my own dumb fault. But that is not the case. The only thing to hit the front of my truck has been bugs. There may be a few "rock chips". If I had run through that many rocks I would imagine another part of my truck should be affected. There's not a nick or scratch on the headlights/headlight trim/hood or bumper. Even my radiator and inter cooler still have all straight fins.
The sales rep, did a "tape test" where is placed painters masking tape from the body shop on some of the worse areas . then slowly peeled it away after a few minuets. As he did so there were a few pieces of paint that stayed on the tape.
I believe there is a problem with the paint adhering to the plastic. If this is the case, its a Ford warranty issue, not an environmental one.

Glad to hear that your grill may be faulty from the factory though. At least your dealer is working with you to help find the root of the problem.

Ok, Ford came back yesterday and said no apparently. But my service guy said to hang on and they would try and work on something. He called me today and said Ford agreed to warranty it. So I am pretty stoked about that. They are going to strip down my grill and repaint it. I asked how much it would be extra for them to color match it, I know there's a little more labor involved. This was at 530 today. So he will let me know Monday.
