Default Lariat Front Mounted Camera

Has anybody mounted an aftermarket front facing camera on a Lariat grill?

I have seen it on an XLT at this post but I am struggling to find an oem look. There is not really enough room to mount one below the emblem.

I tried a few options with this style camera but didn't have enough room or it looked to out of place.

Here is a shot of the grill

I guess the other option is a license plate mounted camera but I think those look kind of janky.

Are you trying to use it for a car surround view setup? I'm trying to understand the purpose of an externally mounted front cam.

I installed the Lock Pick Pro so it will be integrated into my system. But that is a good point, only people who have done that will want to install a front camera (which is probably not many).

There's a camera source user that was commenting when someone else installed it on their XLT, I'd try PM-ing them.

And once you do get it installed, please share pictures!! How do you like the lockpick so far?

I'd be careful with those types of cameras. Some are meant to mount a certain way as the camera lens can't be rotated. You may have already wired it up to make sure it works, but just in case not, I'd do that. If you get a camera with a wide view you could potentially wire it in the space above where the plate is. A wider view makes everything smaller and has a bit of a fish eye look. Here is one I was looking at mounting lower:

It has a 175 angle, if you look at the photos or google you can get a better idea of how it splits the image.

I think the XLT you were talking about is the one I linked to in the original post.

I like the Lock Pick but it has some down falls. The warning you see at the top of the screen when you are in reverse is on there the whole time you are mirroring your phones screen. The resolution in not great. And the Nav override needs to be enabled to enter an address while driving but then disabled to resume navigation. Just some little quirks I did not expect but the install was very easy and straight forward.

I have an xlt with a license plate camera, I agree it would look much better integrated. AFTER I had done the upgrade someone posted a link to the OEM camera and Ford emblem needed. As far as wiring I am not sure, but your best bet might be pming someone from a place like tasca auto parts and seeing what they can come up with.

What lickpick did you go with? I have been looking and trying to decide where to purchase. I would have to put the camera up higher because I have a bullbar. I think it would be very beneficial to see how close you are in the front. I have the 7" Readylift and those little cars disappear when you pull up behind them at the red lights haha.

I got this one but ended up returning the camera because I could not find a good way to mount it.

That's the one I was leaning towards. Let us know what camera you decide on. It would be nice if it showed enough side to side view to see the corner of the bumper. I also wondered if anyone decided to go with front bumper sensors and how they were hooking them up.
