Got my kit yesterday, but it will be several days before I can install it.

Pretty sure I've figured out the position of where the camera will go.

What you say?

Yes this kit was not designed for a XLT......Which has a different grill than the Lariat,Platinum & KR.

This has been my concern, seeing that I have an xlt as well. Looking forward to see what you come up with.

I have a few questions, I hope it doesn't put you out too much.

Your location is where I want to mount mine, could you explain how you mounted the camera in that location please?

Can you take a picture of what the camera shows in that position?

And lastly, can you show where you went through the firewall?

Thanks, I know that is a lot to ask but I want to get it JUST RIGHT!

I have all the pix's but have turned them over to Chris to use.

He should be posting them soon. I sent him aprox 40pixs of detail.

I will say...In the position where I installed it at the top of the grill. Due to the angle it is looking at the ground aprox 18in in front of the truck.
It also has the parking lines running slightly uphill as they go away from the truck.

I went thru the factory boot in the firewall. It is kind of a bellow sort of thing.....Meaning it has a inside rubber and outside rubber with air in it. I suspect that is for better insulation of heat and sound.

Did you get the Mytouch Air? and is that the camera from Camera-Source or the camera from Coastaltech. Looks like the Camera-Source from the lines in the camera.

Would like to see pic of the install and where you located the camera.

Coastaltech with there camera is cheaper way to go but can't decide on what camera to get with the lockpick air.

My understanding on this is that CoastalTech is the main distributor??? and do the updates and programming.

Bump on backside ground down due to the length of the camera mounting shaft.

I'm glad you posted pictures. I was going to hang the camera from the bottom. Or is there an option to flip the picture on the head unit?

I know the coastaltech camera states that it can reverse the image to mount anyway. Not sure if the Camera-Source camera can. Just seems odd to me that the lines in the image are still pointing somewhat up and that camera is clearly mounted looking down. I would have to mount it on some kind of bracket so I could adjust it.

How were these pictures taken 2007? Marty, where's my time machine?

Thanks for the pictures. This is the camera source camera correct?

If you decide to mount the camera under one of the cross sections of the grille you must order the CS-FHDF-MYT(A) because the image sensor is oriented so that it can be mounted upside down. There is no way to change this once its mounted and the cameras look identical from the outside... one just mounts with the shaft horizontal (like the one warthog5 purchased) and the other mounts with the shaft pointing up (vertically) as to be mounted under the cross support. Here's the link to the other model with the Mytouch Air:

https://camera-source.com/automotive...-lockpick.html

Coastal Electronics (Lockpick) does not sell cameras anymore they will just refer you to us. We are one of their largest resellers of Lockpicks but the cameras we sell are our own brand (EVI Systems). We put a lot of effort into ensuring our image quality is better than anything else you will find on the market. Plus we can sell Lockpicks at a discounted price since we deal in volume and bundled products.

Hope that helps clarify. Please let me know if you have more questions. Bobby did a bang up job mounting this on his XLT... especially considering that we do not list his model in the application chart because of the small cross supports on his grille Looks great as a finished install!
