Lariat 501A VS XLT 302A Poll

THIS........ only thing that matters is what the OP wants. I had a 2012 Lariat and looked at XLT before buying my 2017 Lariat. Just didn't want to take a step backwards in features that I use and like. Also didn't want to start spending money to install some of the Lariat features into a XLT. To each their own and why Ford has difference models for what owners want.

Lariat for me... Is the 502a really more expensive than the 501? I have a 302a and I really regret not going at least with the Lariat. Why?
- 4A (I live in a northern region, and 4H can be dangerous)
- Larger cluster screen (hey, it's cool)
- Leather seats (XLT seats are not comfortable IMO)
- Keyless ignition (who wants a 50 000$ vehicle that still uses a key in 2018?)
Unless you're looking for a work truck, I'd go with the Lariat.

I love my XLT 302A. It's got plenty of options and is a nice truck. I've never had a truck with more options than this XLT. But if the Lariat is still within your budget and you are on the fence over the two models, then just get the Lariat. You will enjoy those extra options. I'm getting older and will be able to afford a loaded Lariat for my next truck. I'll definitely be going that direction next.

Lariat is a waste without getting 502A in my opinion.

I do agree with you about the keyless ignition though. First world problems I suppose haha.

i kind of agree, but im sure there are people who are happy with their 501. ive been kicking myself for not getting a 502a or above, when i get a new one later this year or early next year it will absolutely be a 502 or above.

Even though I love my XLT, I voted Lariat because of the large dash screen, 4A and memory seats. Those are the options I would appreciate. All the others I can easily live without. But that's just me, you would have to decide if the extra options are worth the extra cost for you.

Had a 302 for my first truck and now I got the 2017 502A lariat and my God it is just so nice and convenient. Really don’t think I could ever have anything less now. I’m just spoiled now. Whatever you want though but will say 502a is where it’s at.

As others have said, it's up to you if you think those things are worth it or not. Personally for me, I picked XLT 302A because it had everything I wanted and needed (Plus Sport pkg, moonroof, FX4, Nav, Payload pkg, Tow pkg). The only thing the Lariat would offer that I might like is dual climate, but it's not worth $7000. I also don't like leather, at all. That alone is a deal breaker. So when the wife's cold, we turn up the heat and I close the vents on my side or vice-versa. Too easy, and $7k freed up to go towards my TT, holidays, new sofa set, etc...
