What gets me is a guy who's location is "off the grid" and proud of it... is whining about a a car that is the most connected "on the grid" vehicle on the road. Hmm....

Car companies should come out with an "Auto-Pilot" feature that does absolutely nothing at all to weed out the morons who don't want to drive while driving...

How about doing everybody a favor, you included, and wait for it on a Tesla forum. If you can't figure out the difference between the two systems yourself, we surely can't help you either.

Tesla already has it. Plenty of videos and news stories of people having their vehicle on "Autopilot" and it crashing into something.

Maybe you should learn to drive.

The only people I know that don't like driving are terrible at it.

YMMV, I guess.

I enjoy a nice hike too, for exercise, but hiking the same trail over and over is infinitely more boring than driving the same road.

Really weird that you'd come to a forum for enthusiasts, only to complain that a feature does what it's advertised to do. LKA is an assist. Auto-pilot is Auto-pilot. Drastically different things.

Think of LKA like ABS. ABS won't brake FOR you, but it will help you stop safely when you press the brake... You still have to press the pedal for ABS to work...

It's an assisting feature, not an automated feature.

If you have been driving for OVER 50 years and assuming you got your license at the standard 16 years of age, that means you're coming up on 70 years old, possibly older.... that is prime "confused the gas with the brake" age. For the love of god do not get a big *** F-150... please get a smaller auto-pilot equipped Tesla. I don't want to be in the store when you plow your truck through the front because you forgot which pedal to press when you were parking to get your blood pressure and arthritis meds.

On a side note, the F-150 you test drove must have been defective, the LKA on my truck works flawlessly... it keeps me in the lane, avoids all traffic, reads me a book, slices, dices, and even dispenses julienne fries from the glove box.... I didn't see that in your precious Tesla video.

There, my comment is officially as pointless as this entire thread.

Are those fries still hot? I'm getting kind of hungry.

Hey there, Almighty, don't go lumping all us old geezers in the same pot. I'm 68 and I'm not gonna tell you that I'm Kyle Busch, but I can still drive and enjoy the heck out of it. I just got back from a 5800 mile motorcycle "walk-about" from the Midwest thru the back roads of NM/UT/CO and back to Ohio....NOT on a Harley! Sport bike with hard bags is the way to go. I auto-x-ed my Grand Sport Vette (yes, the 6-spd with 3 pedals!) until I sold it about 2 years ago, and I can still strafe the backroad twisties around here on my Z1K Ninja and scrape a knee puck without scaring myself too bad. I don't text and drive, and the day I DO confuse the gas for the brake is the day I'll move to the Villages in FL and trade my cars in for a golf cart...with flames, of course.

NOW GET OFF MY DAMN LAWN, SONNY!

And the stupidity level of this thread has hit 11. Comparing a semi self driving car with the latest in imperfect technology, to a truck that has known and proven technology for a driver is just ludicrous. One supposedly drives itself. the other *Requires* a driver.
