Knocking noise from moonroof

Yep. Me too. TSB twice. Then took things into my own hands and did the neoprene and the TSB myself. TSB again. Still knocks.

Hey guys I had this issue awhile back and it was driving me nuts. I never took it to the dealer after hearing the horror stories. I purchased Dupont Krytox grease (.5oz)I and applied it to the areas where the sliding glass comes in contact with the rubber (put thin layer around entire perimeter of sliding moon roof)
Its a tiny tube and I had my doubts at first but works like a charm!
The lubrication will eliminate the friction between the panels of glass and the rubber = no more knocking noise

May have toasted my sunroof yesterday. Got the typical rattle, usually I can flip up then open/close & it goes away.
Auto-shut kept bouncing back, so I held the button to close & got some awful crunching noises...
Time to finally make an appt. Don't think my dealer does loaners, will have to ping my salesman & see if he can put me in an '18 for a day or two.

Never did update this.
They ended up replacing both tracks. So far, no rattles to be heard.
Picked it up & it was giving a loud pop every time it lowered the glass to slide back.
Waiting on backordered parts for them to replace the guides now.
Ended up in an '18 STX for a loaner for a day while they diag'd the new issue, since they had the truck for almost a week & it still wasn't right.

And yesterday, the rattles have returned

Yeah, I haven't touched mine, since it was still broken after the tracks were replaced.
Wasn't pleased that the rattle is back after less than a month. Not as frequent as it was before (box of rocks), but a lot more than the silent it was for a couple weeks.

Well, Saturday my pano sunroof crapped the bed. It was knocking so I vented it to try and stop the constant knocking sound (usually works for awhile). When I did, I was greeted with a LOUD pop and it didn't open. So, I hit the open button and was greeted again with the awful sound of grinding noises (gears?). After that, the damn thing wouldn't close. It kept going forward and backwards. I finally got it manipulated into the closed position, and now it's at the dealership to be replaced. Ugh... At least it's under warranty. Here's hoping my dealer does a good repair/replace job.

UPDATE:
Dealer called and said that they'll have to replace the tracks and will order the parts. Not sure how long that takes, but he said about 4 days for the parts to come in and a half of a day to complete the fix. What's important is, as of November, they have a new system in place where they don't have to pull the headliner out, but rather there's a new way of changing out the tracks without completely tearing apart my truck! Anyone else heard of this newly discovered repair/replacement method?!?

See my posts further up. Tracks replaced & now it gives a very loud pop as the glass lowers in the back to slide open.
Waiting on backordered parts to get it fixed. It was nice & silent for a couple weeks, but is back to rattling/knocking like a box of rocks now.

I applied the slick tape solution two days ago, and so far it appears to have completely eliminated the constant rattle!
The rattle on my 2015 is most prominent in cold weather. I had the dealership perform the TSB "grease" a couple of months ago. It was silent afterwards, but the sound came back in about a month. Hopefully it is gone now for good!

I got rid of my 15 for this reason. I now have a roll of the slick tape and the padded tape for the secondary fix for sale. PM me if interested.
Thanks
