Yes you never want to leave a key in the hidden spot... That is for programming and if your batteries die only.

So what happens if you leave your key in this spot? Guess I shouldn't do that.

The truck won't blow up or anything, but if you leave your key in this spot you are just giving everyone access to start it if they get in. Even if they break in.

Back to the...won't a "break-in" cause the alarm to disable the vehicle?

I see nothing wrong with leaving the fob in the hidden spot...or buying a third one to leave in there just to disable the double honk

This is what I'm look for an answer on - does it matter if you leave the fob in the hidden spot or anywhere like the counsel? As long as you lock the doors with keypad aren't you in good shape regardless, i.e. an alarm will go off if the window is broken. I just don't understand why it can't sit in the hidden location. Thanks in advance.

Test it for yourself, but if you hide a powered (with batteries) keyfob in the truck regardless how you lock the truck. If someone breaks in and opens the door they will be able to start the truck and disable the alarm.

As long as the person breaking into your vehicle doesn't find the key, the truck should not start until the alarm is deactivated.

kendive, anyway you can test this by securing the truck and leaving the window down? Then reach in and unlock the door by the handle and see if it will start? Should be the same thing as breaking a window and unlocking it, minus the broken glass.

Yes I can do that but it will be the same as using the hard metal key to get in. The truck does not know you used that hard key to open the door.

But I will do that and let you all know.

So I will leave an extra keyfob in the truck lock the doors either keypad or another fob and then reach in and open the door without the keyfob I locked the doors with and see what happens.

Ok this is what I did...

I left the window down and then left a extra keyfob in the truck. I closed the door and locked the truck by waving my hand by the door **** sensor and locked the doors and walked in the house. Waited a few and left the keyfob in the house.

So I went back to the truck and started to reach into the truck and the alarm and horn went off immediately and I opened the door and tried to start the truck. No Dice... So you are right if you trip the motion sensors. I'm pretty impressed they detected my arm that quick.

I had to run into the house and get the keyfob I locked the doors with and start the truck.

Just a note the horn did stop pretty quick but the lights continued to flash on and off.

So I guess if you are going to leave a active keyfob in the truck I would leave the alarm to all sensors because if you just open the door it will let you start the truck.

It's awesome to learn all this neat stuff with our trucks.

With a fob inside the truck mine will not let me lock using the sensor on the handle. I have to use the keypad or it won't lock.
