After a week long discussion of the number I now have list below with this updated price as of 5pm today.

Truck is in Florida
I live on Fort Rucker AL 36362

Blue Box $44,155
Dealer Discount $4676
Rebates $7300
Adjusted Price $32,294
Doc Fee $599
Tax (AL) $1507

OTD $34,286

Just wondering what Toptobottom or Silvius thinks. Of course the internet sales rep says this is the absolute lowest price they can do. That doesn't deter me from asking for further a higher dealer discount.
Jim
I think you've been had by this Dealer. If you look at the numbers you provided for BOTH Dealer quotes, the first one has the wrong (higher) OTD amount. Now you're saying they went down after you called? It appears to me they didn't do a damn thing more than provide you with the 'Correct' OTD which 'APPEARS' as though they came down some. The math in each of the quotes doesn't add up correctly if you go line by line.

I CAN"T STRESS ENOUGH THAT YOU NEED TO GO INTO THE CALCULATOR APP ON YOUR PHONE AND 'ALWAYS' DOUBLE CHECK A DEALERS MATH!!! DEALERS GO BY A DIFFERENT MATH!!!

Aside this, you actually have a good deal, for FL, at 9.5% (w/Doc factored in) so if you've shopped a few Dealers and this is the best you've got for a truck you want then I say 'go for it'. You could give one last stab by telling them the math was wrong and they didn't come down at all between both quotes so if they do $34,000 OTD then you're coming down! At least that would bring you to a 10% deal. But, I doubt they will, knowing you have $7,300 in available rebates. Why let a Dealer know this?

If they don't then you better think about one thing. You have a Ford Credit Incentive of $1,750 expiring on 11/30, which is unusually high. I don't have a crystal ball, but most all Ford Credit Incentives are up to $1,250. In my Zip Code Region, we had an unusually high bump up on a single Incentive program from 10/3 to 10/30, after which, Ford knocked it back down. I'm thinking this was a temporary $500 hike for your Zip as I haven't come across others having it and my bet is that it'll go down starting Dec. so you're going to possibly lose that. Based on this information, you need to make your own decision on your gut, because you'd have to take delivery by end of day on Thursday.

Just a little rant i guess, very annoyed with my dealer. I got my hopes up in the beggining when I used this forum and came to a great deal on a 2018 plat. I got her signature on a deal, which is invoice,Holdback with 500, but now I cant seem to get in touch with her or a response on getting me a vin number (seriously thought about canceling my order due to the non responses). My order was placed on 10-30 according to the fleet manager I spoke with recently, I had to by pass trying to get into touch with my dealer who gave me the deal and go straight to the head, but i dont think that should be the case and still no vin which i find unbelieavable. I made my down payment and she signed off on papers for my discount, but something just doesnt seem right if a vin number has not been generated yet. Usually how does that process work on ford end with issuing the vin number. Am i just being impatient, seems like some funny bussiness going on.

I was close to buying an F150 last year around this same time, but got walked on by too many dealers, and decided to walk. My itch to own one is still there, and I thought the timing would be good on the 17s. I've located one in my city that is near exactly what I want. The price on the website (listing here) is the price I've been offered (actually the price offered is higher because I did not qualify for all the rebates.) I've repeatedly said the discount is not enough, and they act like there is no room to budge (we lose money on new trucks, the demand is very high, blah blah blah)

What are your thoughts on this 'deal' This does include the 0% financing, which I know will raise the price a bit over regular ford financing. I'm also a SAMs member and they said they've applied the $500 rebate there. I realize that trade ins are usually not a great deal; however with the tax savings, this is about what I can sell for private party (probably about 500-750 off)

ZIP CODE: 40503

$66,260 Blue Box MSRP
-$6,015 (Dealer Savings) Only a 9.9% discount based on your formula on post #3053
-$1,500 Rebate
$599.00 Dealer Handling Fee
$59,344 (Price before TTL)

I realize there a much fewer King Ranch's out there so there isn't as much playing dealers off of one another.
I'd love any wisdom you could share. I really enjoy reading this board and your posts!
Sorry, I can't share my thoughts on a deal with a trade-in because it's pointless here in this type of thread. Nobody, but someone who specializes in estimating new vehicles daily can have a bearing on what your trade is ACTUALLY worth. Therefore, the waters are muddied to even bother. Sorry!

BTW, your 'True Dealer Discount' comes to 8.34% with the numbers you cleaned up off that ugly quote sheet - not 9.9%. Is that without the Doc fee factored in?

P.S. Sending the 'Price Negotiation Assistant' in a moment.

I know we had been discussing, but my deal was pretty easy. I required an email with details such as selling price, agreement on no add-ones or addendums, a list of all fees and tax and a total out the door before incentives/rebates/private or public offers, and that any of these are mine at the time of purchase. I offered a down payment. They sent me a preview of the build which I responded with my agreement. The build preview had the order number and dealer number. It also had a priority number (the lower the better and typically the lowest is at least 10 or 11), and mine was 19. This information was required by the Cotus.com website. In about 3 days I found an order with a VIN. A week later I had a build date and a window sticker. My original delivery date started at 12/29 with my 10/17 order date. Over time my delivery date moved down and is now 11/30, and my truck was built 11/14. I agreed with the dealer on a December delivery date with December incentives

I hope this helps

Hi all,

Was hoping to get some feedback on our calculations. Plan to go to a dealer tomorrow to get a price on a new truck. Window sticker is attached.

Here’s our math:
MSRP 46185
- delivery fee 1295
=44890
-10% dealer discount (4489)
=40401

Rebates:
-xl mid 750
-stx appearance 1250
-customer cash 2250
-military 1000

=5250

Now add the shipping of 1250

=36,446 ODT + TTL, doc fees.

Does sound about right what we should look for?

Thanks much

Your math looks like a Dealers math plus you added back the wrong destination charge amount.

But putting these few things aside, you're off base with your percentage formula for an XL so this is wrong. Go read again unless Silvius bails you out and tells you why.

Why would you go to a Dealer and jerked around for 4-5 hours. Don't you value your time?

I did just realize I put in the wrong destination charge (apologies as I am working off my phone atm). I will continue reading through this thread as I thought I had this figured out.

What is the percentage formula? I put 10% as a conservative figure, should I push it to 11.5-12%?

thanks

Yeah, the package discounts for STX and XL "Appearance" are built in discounts that already appear on the factory sticker. Dealers like to include these faux discounts as if you are getting some sort of special deal, hence the term 'dealer math'.

Almost all the folks on this thread are buying XLT and up, and a 10% discount would indeed be conservative (depending on location and timing) for those models. Since the XL (including the XL w/STX package) has about 2% less markup than XLT trims and above (don't ask; I don't know why)--- 8% would probably be considered conservative.

I got a 10% dealer discount on my STX, however, so it is attainable depending on your location.

Maybe I missed it, but is it a 2017 or 2018? 2017s should have more rebate money than what you mentioned so I am assuming it is a 2018. You are planning to finance with Ford, then refinance, right?

I knew you'd be right on the money with your answer!

As usual - no details provided therefore, he's on his own because it's obvious he hasn't read through this thread from page 300 and I won't be playing guessing games.

You’re correct 2018 and zip 54722, didn’t realize window sticker cut off the year. I’m planning to see what the cost difference will be to finance with ford. If that’s cheaper then I will finance/refinance promptly. Thanks for clearing up the faux discounts. I think I have it pretty close I will report back with my results.

Can the first responder, military, and sams club discounts be stacked?

thanks again
