Default Same problem with passenger side door handle sensor…

2018 F150 Platinum SC with 28k miles. I’ll try the trickle charger to see what happens and circle back here. If it needs a new battery what does everyone like that works really well?

Thank you!

Default Update 1

Once the vehicle is running via the ignition button has been pushed (but not when auto-started) the sensors work.

Default Update 2: Trickle charger test…

The smart charger indicated that the factory battery health was less than optimal. However, after every night of having the trickle charger connected the IA passenger door sensor has been working. I am willing to bet, based on the observed results, that the intermittent response from the IA sensors is directly linked to the battery charge/health. I thank whomever came up with that hypothesis and started the tread about it!

MY 18 KR just started having problems with the passenger door sensor, found this thread. Door is fine if the truck is running, so looks like it's the battery.

Default Using battery charger also causes handle unlock sensor to not work

My Lariat is a garage queen these days. I use it as my tow vehicle for my trailer and take out once a month otherwise to just keep it lubricated. So, I periodically put a battery charger on it. When I did, the door hand unlock sensor wouldn't work. The sensor to lock the door worked just fine. Removed the charger, and voila! - the unlock sensor just came back....

Not sure this problem is related, but my IA in my 2020 Platinum just started only opening the driver's door despite opening all the doors for the last 18mo. Both the door sensors are still working and when I use the passenger side it still unlocks all the doors. I've looked online but can't find how to return the setting to unlock all the doors. Can anyone help?

If you read this thread, you would see that 99% of all the problems are related to the truck's battery. Put your battery on a charger and let it charge all the way up. Then test. If they all work, then your battery health is going down.

Just don't check its function while you are on the charger! This was counter-intuitive to me. I'm an electrical engineer.

Thanks, I did read every post in the thread but since my sensors were both working and it seemed like the setting to unlock all the doors simply reverted to a different setting of only unlocking the driver's door, I assumed that this was just a programming thing I could quickly fix. Is it not possible to select to open either all doors or only the drivers when you activate the driver's door sensor? I just wanted to try that first. Would seem logical that you could select to have the IA only open the driver's door when the driver's sensor is touched. If that doesn't work or if the problem recurs, I can then drag out my charger and see what that does.

It's not possible to select just the drivers door in the settings. It's an all or nothing thing. The general consensus is, when the battery's health starts to decline, the truck will start to turn off non-essential functions and one of those functions is all doors opening. You will also notice that start/stop will happen less frequently or not at all.
