Intelligent access door opening sensor not working

Same passenger door handle problem
Just came across this thread after my last interaction with our Ford dealer. Back in January we noticed the IA passenger door handle on our 2019 F150 Lariat would no longer detect the touch feature. Dropped it off at the dealer who ordered a new door handle. Installed the handle which did not solve the problem. Then he replaced the BCM and all was well. Went for about a month and the same problem reappeared. Back to the dealer. After some delay, I was told that my dash-cam, which is connected to the fuse block, was creating the problem and that it had caused the new BCM to fail. I was told since an aftermarket product was connected that I would have to pay for another BCM replacement. I asked why there was suddenly a problem since I installed the camera almost two years ago when I took delivery and further, the camera had played well with our previous F350. He had no explanation other than it must be the cam, which, incidentally, continues to function normally. Since I have no way to prove otherwise, I decided to leave the cam connected as a matter of priority and do without the balking passenger door handle. Seems strange that a possible cam problem would manifest itself by affecting only a door handle. Based on what I've read here, I would expect at some point to see Ford issue a service bulletin and maybe get the issue resolved at that point.

Same issue here. 2018 F150 KR; only 18K miles on it since I fly everywhere I work. Some time recently; perhaps during our severe cold / ice here in Texas (1F temp) it stopped working. I've cleaned it, stared intently at it; nothing. Driver's side works great.

I had this exact issue. Problem was low battery. I wasn't driving enough (Covid) and the truck slowly started shutting down 'non-essential' features. Hooked the truck up to a trickle charger, solved it. I would try that.

I've noticed this with my '19 Lariat also....first the chimes will stop playing out of the speakers, then the passenger door sensor will fail. Once I charge the battery everything is back to normal.

Hate to bump an old thread but I've got this same issue. Interesting that most of the folks calling this issue out have Lariats or above as well. Is that because this feature isn't available on XL / XLT's?
Anyways - just took ownership of a 2018 Lariat SCrew 4x4 and dealing with the same issue.
I replaced the 2450 key fob battery but still getting very inconsistent behavior from the passenger-side door sensor pad (9 times out of 10, it does NOT work).
I'm surprised this isn't some sort of recall or service notice about this yet.
I guess I'll take it into the dealership but before that, I'll try to wipe down the sensor as previously suggested in this thread. Any other thoughts or updates?

Mine started doing it again after I put my battery on a charger also. Battery died two days later. It wound up being a bad battery. I took it in for this issue and they tested the battery and found a bad cell. They replaced it under warranty.

I'm in agreement with the battery being the culprit for the door lock sensor issue. 2018 F-150 Lariat owner here and this is my story...
My passenger door lock sensors mysteriously stopped working as well. I had zero issues with my door lock sensors until I took my truck in for a recall dealing with the cam phasers causing a cold start rattle. When performing the recall for the cam phasers the PCM has to be reprogrammed. This PCM reprogram took place in the same timeframe my passenger door sensors stopped working so I just knew the two had to be related. After a few heated conversations with the the service department and a month of my truck making several trips in and out of their shop trying to solve the door sensor issue... alas no hope. The technician was able to get the sensors to operate correctly each time, but like clockwork within an hour or two or by the time I got the truck back home the sensors again were non-responsive. Everyone at the service department is scratching their heads and the service manager comes to the conclusion that it must be an issue with the BCM. After a long conversation he convinces me the PCM reprogram from the cam phaser recall has nothing to do with the BCM and if they replace the BCM that cost would be my responsibility. A new BCM is around $1,600 just for the part so I decide I'm going to learn to live with the non-responsive passenger door sensors.
Fast forward about a month, I decide to download the Ford Pass App to my phone and start tracking my truck just for the hell of it. Not long after I've downloaded the app, one of the first notifications I receive is a notice that my truck has entered "Deep Sleep Mode" to conserve battery life. Being the curious person that I am, I decide to look further into this "Deep Sleep" notification to see what's the cause and if there's a remedy. Turns out the truck enters "Deep Sleep Mode" when the truck has been inactive and the Battery Voltage drops below a certain parameter. Well it just so happens that a couple of months prior, I started a new job with a company vehicle which means my personal truck doesn't get much use anymore and thus the battery isn't getting charged as it would under normal continuous use. It's at this point that I start connecting the dots and realize what might be the cause of my door lock sensor issues...a low voltage battery. So I decide test my theory. After my truck has been sitting quietly in the garage for a week in "Deep Sleep Mode" and the passenger door sensors non-responsive, we take it on a hour and half drive to visit family. I park the truck, turn off the ignition, walk around to the passenger side, and Viola! Door lock sensors are working as normal. These trucks are too damn advanced. Now I keep the truck battery on a smart-charger and no more issues. Hopefully Ford will develop a software recall to remedy these issues. In the meantime I hope my story can help someone else out there.

I’ve experienced the same thing on my 19 Lariat the past month, passenger door IA sensor nonresponsive.
Additionally, door chime I turned off with Forscan has returned, and upon getting home from vacation where the truck sat, it was constantly booting into electrical start up (I’m guessing this is what this is) even when the key is not close by.
I replaced the battery with Duralast Premium AGM and manually reset BMS and all seems well.
will report any changes for reference.

There is clearly a design flaw in the sensor on the inside of the handle that prevents it from working when it’s wet.
so frustrating to spend this kind of money on a higher level trim to have the components of that trim not work.
