My last tank was 24.9mpg, but it was about perfect conditions to maximize fuel saving. Impresses me every time as my old truck would get at best 15mpg, and my car would get maybe 27-28mpg on premium, so the F-150 costs me the least per mile in the fleet.

35 mpg, heck yeah.
They have one, but most are not. We didn't look at the hybrid.

Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle (HR-V) is Honda's subcompact wagon. Here's the wife's new whip:

It's a little smaller than the Escape she replaced, but the 5" higher roof makes it a lot easier to get in and out of than a car, like my son's Fusion. Seating is upright, like an SUV. At 5'11", I'm about at the limit for front seat leg room, and had she gotten an EX, the lower headliner due to the sunroof would have required I remove my hat. Not a vehicle for tall people, but hip and shoulder room is good for a subcompact. I've been asked my whole life if I was an offensive guard in high school football. Never played football outside of pickup games. Oddly, my choice of competition was cycling, and later triathlons.

Would gladly take 10mpg and the gas prices that went with it back in the day. I filled up 4 jerry cans last week and it cost me almost $170 (CAD).

Better gas mileage is why the price of gas has tripled. Reduce demand, reduce production to follow demand, increase price to make the same amount of money as always.

We got the wife a 2020 Escape last year to replace her 08 Escape. Does resemble a Cayenne+Focus+Tesla3. Because of its size/shape, it is just not photogenic. Looks larger and bolder in person. The 2.0L AWD setup is seriously fun to drive. And it gets 36-37 MPG on the interstate. The 250/280 power (on 93) is respectable and the 8-speed knows how to use it. Much like the 2.7, it punches well above it's weight. If Ford can ever get the 2.7 in a Ranger without payload loss, sign me up.

Well hell, I haven't seen one yet, presumed this was a '22 redesign. Looks like CAFE killed the design... mileage with the 1.6L turbo dropped 1mpg for the three years that grill was in use. Or maybe people didn't like the look... had SUV styling with the headlight falling within the height of the grill, but like a car now with the grill below the lights.

Wife and I spent six weeks looking for cars, rolled through the three Ford dealerships near us over 9 times, got out and walked them half as much, not once did I see either a new or used 4th gen Escape, and haven't seen one one the road. They make them at the other end of the county, you'd think we'd see one, LOL. Their production numbers though... 178k 2020's, 85k 2021's not a lot on the road just yet.

Ford is so conservative these days. F-150, Maverick, Escape, all very dull and look like they could be 10-15 year old designs. The Escape makes a little more sense with the Bronco Sport bringing a bit of masculinity to the same platform. It's amazing the Bronco turned out so well, but then again it's a retro design so they weren't really breaking any new ground there.

It's like Ford has become what Toyota used to be. Without the quality and reliability, but with better drivetrains.
