I've had a clunk right as it's doing it's final downshift to first gear as I approach the stoplight. It doesn't happen all the time but it does make you wonder. I get the same clunk every now and then when shifting...this problem was addressed for someone else by having the drive shaft/slip yoke replaced.

What does the slip yoke do and is it hard to replace? Where is it located?

Well I picked my truck up yesterday, both the service manager and 2 senior level technicians found nothing wrong with the transmission or driveline. I'm frustrated to say the least. The 2016 2.7L EB that was loaned to me during the service period didn't have the issue, and was as smooth as silk. Conveniently the service manager wasn't there when I picked it up last night for me to take him for a ride and show him the harsh transition between braking and power. Usually I do all my own maintenance and having had previous negative experiences on other vehicles, I naturally have trust issues with dealerships service departments and for now I'm over this issue. I have it documented if this gets worse down the line. I may grease the slip yoke on mine when I can find the time to see if this smooths things out. Hopefully a TSB will be issued on the 16s if this becomes a more common issue. It's just frustrating that the driveline on my brand new 2016 model year truck isn't as smooth as my 2003 was...

It sure is frustrating when you know there's a problem and they can't seem to hear or feel anything. They must train for some of the excuses they have, "that's normal" , "they all do it", "drive it for awhile and see if it gets worse". I hope the 15s also have a tsb. Time will tell, let me know if greasing slip yoke helps. Mine go's back in after 500 miles to see if relearning helped the clunk.

Had mine in yesterday. Took it out with the tech who was there transmission guy for a drive. Truck wouldn't clunk in drive....#$%@...feel better now. However, when I put it into neutral it did it's clunk or bump thing almost every time. Tech was like oh that's interesting. Thought it seemed like the transmission was trying to do a downshift. I thought alright he's on the scent an all's going to be revealed. Not. Picked it up... they said they checked the drive line and all looked good. Also went for a test ride in the service managers truck (same truck) and it seems to be a normal characteristic. I was a little surprised by there results (after what tech said on ride) but was kind of expecting to hear what you all have been told. Don't know where to go next with it. More confused and disappointed than ever with it.
Have to say mine has improved quite a bit since the first month so still hoping it may be a programming issue and a TSB will be issued in the future, but a part of me thinks its mechanical and Ford knows there is a significant percentage of trucks with this and isn't going to say or do a damn thing about it. Just don't know...

My 2016 5.0 seems to make the same clunk. I tried the coasting in neutral thing last night and every time I approach 10 km/h I get the clunk, put it back in drive speed up to 20 km/h or so, back to neutral and I get it again at 10 km/h. It feels like the transmission is shifting but I'm in neutral? Now that I've felt it I think it was doing it on the way to work today as well. I'll see how the drive home goes. Hopefully there is a fix for this.

Nailed it. There are all sorts of issues that fall under this category with the 2015+ truck, I think. Ford has lost all my confidence. I am currently looking into selling or trading my year old truck because of the extensive list of issues and no resolution on any of them- transfer case grinding, driveshaft clunking, faulty door seals, terrible transmission programming, steering rattle, steering wandering on highway, strange popping noise at 25 MPH.... I'm done. Ford knows they put out faulty vehicles but simply will not pony up the money to fix them.

Thought about doing same thing. Figured out I would probably take big hit on trade value. They are still offering 0% finance but who wants a 16 With possible same problems.

There is a reprogram for the steering.

The noise you are hearing at exactly 25-26 mph is you active grille shutters closing, working as designed.
