How to get navigation
Zackly !!
If you have an android phone just update Sync 3 to version 2.2 and use Android Auto. If you have an Apple phone, update Sync 3 to version 2.2 and install the new USB hub for $60 and use Car Play.
But, Apple Maps (which is required to use CarPlay) isn't a great Map app.
1) It doesn't give you updated directions quickly if you "miss" a turn. (Example: I get off the highway to get gas or miss a turn on purpose b/c traffic).
2) it seems to like u-turns for some reason when they aren't necessary.
3) if you don't have a good phone signal - it can get lost easily - when I take my truck hunting, it gets lost in the wood or on "real" roads that go through the hills in rural/hilly areas.
4) it seems to adjust for traffic, but the feedback isn't really clear.
Solutions:
1) for long trips or trips into the woods, I use my dash mounted Garmin. You simply can't beat them at GPS usability and the quality of their maps.
2) for trips to/from work, I usually use the WAZE App b/c of its interactive traffic updates. Since I keep my phone on a Rokform dash mount anyway, this works very well in a basically hands free setup.
Rather than give an opinion of what you should do I opted to just give you what you asked for.
