Default How to fix a P051B error code

I have a 2015 Ford F150 with the 2.7L eccoboost engine with 57k miles. the Check engine light came on due to a P051B Crankcase Pressure Sensor Circuit Range Performance issue. How do i fix this code?

Just want to say thanks as a forum member in updating your own thread even though nobody commented. One day, when someone has the same error code, this thread will help them figure out what's best. Any-who, carry on.

FYI - After the CEL light came on I immediately read the code P051B - after reviewing on-line and other discussion = I determined it was not a critical code. After further "researching" on line - not a lot of info. I first cleaned the Mass Flow Air Sensor - somehow probably not connected to the cleaning, but the CEL light went off...This last about 2 days. Then CEL light came on, same code P051B....more "research". My next guess was to change the Positive Crankcase Ventilation PCV value. Only an $8.00 part (bought at Ford Dealership) and a simple change - so thot I'd give it a shot. Within a short time (1 hour and a couple stops) - the CEL light went off and has not come back on for almost a week....my assumption is changing the PCV worked?

Interesting side note - I spoke with a mechanic at the Ford Dealer who looked up the code - he said "changing the PCV value will be a waste or money" - maybe he will be right, but so far no CEL light.

Default Update

Looks like the mechanic was probably correct?
After about a month with the new PCV valve - the CEL came back on with the same error code (P051B) - so on Dec 12 - I changed out the sensor only and not the tube - cost was $20 for the part - and only a few minutes to change out the bad sensor and install the new sensor. Let's hope this fixes.

I also got this code about 2 weeks ago and erased it with the scanner, where is this sensor located? Do you have the part #?

I just had the same code on my 2015 Lariat with the 2.7 ecoboost engine. My truck has 76k miles and the outside temperature today was 14 degrees. I tried to auto-start my truck while leaving work and my horn just beeped. I went to AutoZone and got the code read, and when I left AutoZone the check engine light was off. I drove the 20 miles to my house and tried the auto-start and it worked. I don't plan on doing anything at this time, but because this is probably the 10th ghost code this truck has shown in the past 8 months, I will be trading it in for something non Ford. I have paid hundreds of dollars in diagnostic fees for issues the dealer can never find.

Do you have a part number for what you changed out? I am getting this code once a week or a coupe days then it'll go away. Few days later it'll come back. Hoping it's something simple.

Sorry, unfortunately I don't know the part # - fortunately it has been awhile and don't remember all the details. You should be able to call your local Ford Dealer and ask for the Crankcase Pressure Sensor, and explain your error code (I could not find at O'Reileys etc) Also I only changed the sensor not the tubes and so far it all worked. (I bought the parts at Ford Dealer for ~$20) I had help from a nephew who is a mechanic and was familiar with the error code and had changed these sensors before. He suggested we start with only the sensor - fortunately it has worked since. I also found a video on YouTube showing how to change etc.
