Default Hitch height?

I don't have my truck yet, but wanted to be ready to hitch up my trailer when I do get it... can someone tell me the hitch size and height from ground to bottom of hitch on a stock, 2015/2016 Lariat with Max tow? I can't find this anywhere in any docs. My current truck has 2" hitch and is 19" from ground to bottom edge of hitch... trying to determine if I need a new ball mount and how much drop. Thanks!

Hitch height is a function of tongue weight when you're coupled up. The best way to measure is to get the truck and trailer on a level surface. Detach the trailer and jack the nose of the trailer until it is level. Measure the tongue height above the pavement. Now re-couple the trailer to the truck and again measure the coupler height. The difference of the two measurement is the amount of lift or drop you need in the coupler.

Ball mounts are cheap I pull different trailers so I spent a little more and bought an adjustable mount with interchangeable ball size so all bases are covered. If you only pull 1 trailer measure as stated in prior post and then if you need to adjust about $20 at wall mart , auto parts store, or on line.

Thanks, guys. I will check the drop as described above once I have the truck... and before I buy a drop hitch. Anyone know, offhand, the unloaded height of the hitch above the ground on a stock Lariat, out of curiosity?

Got my truck... and checking hitch height... mine is 20" to center of hitch... same as my old vehicle... so, good news is I can use my existing ball mount. I guess different F150 trim levels are at different heights?

Nobody's mentioning 4x2 or 4x4. That actually makes a difference. Trim level has nothing to do with it.

I went ahead and ordered an adjustable hitch so I could move it according to the trailer and tongue weight to keep things level.

Ahhh yes. that is probably the key. 4x4 is higher. Did not think of that.

Think a 5 inch drop is enough? I tow things from a small wheeled utility trailer to a full size boat trailer. have 4x4 on S crew 6.5 bed. Putting on airbags to bring trailer up, but with the little tires on utility trailer the tongue often slopes up to the hitch putting abnormal weight distribution on the trailer tongue.
