Default Hit in the ***

Stopped at a red light today and all of a sudden BOOM. 6 day old Lariat now needs a new bumper. Clueless guy gets out of a 98 Ranger and says sorry man my brakes are bad. It took everything I had to keep from decking this A-Hole.
Could've been worse. It's only the bumper, but 6 days old...……….C'mon. Body shop already confirmed just bumper.

I'd put an aftermarket bumper on there... same or similar cost, better protection for next time.

wonder if having a trailer hitch ball would of helped save your bumper any.

I would think that would save your bumper at the expense of frame damage as the hitch is more rigid than the bumper.

Got rear ended pretty good a month ago. The trailer hitch took most of it but bumper still got pushed into bed 1/4 panal slightly which meant they hat to replace the whole left pannel(somthing about torn aluminum) hitch had to be replaced too but I would rather just have to replace hitch instead of 1/4 panels!
Anyway I had a friend build me a stout step that slides into the hitch receiver to give me a good 6 inches of extra buffer now. Can't hurt anyways.

Sorry OP I know how it feels to have someone else put the first "scratch" on your new truck

If his brakes are bad maybe he shouldn't be driving like a douche and get them fixed... I would have put what he said in the police report, that he was driving knowing his brakes were bad.

When I got rear-ended the 18-year-old on her way to the bar said she was pressing the brakes and didn't know what happened. No, she wasn't paying attention and pressed the gas because she hit me twice. I was stopped, she hit me, I hit the car in front of me, she hit me again... I still have neck problems and headaches over a year later. My wife's Fiat: Couple of cracks in the bumper. Her old GMC Jimmy looked like she hit a telephone pole, oil everywhere lol

As for your rear bumper, it'll just get replaced. No biggie.

Also, dont forget to file a diminished value claim for the truck. The fact that it now has been in a documented wreck makes it worse less.

Well..............something had to happen, always that way with a new vehicle. Glad is was minor.

In my case, it's usually ME bumping into something.

I dread owning a new vehicle sometimes.
