Help with push button start
I went to drive my truck last night and it wouldn't start, I had pressed the brake pedal which I noticed was a little firmer than normal, pushed the start button and nothing. Does anyone know why I could only start the engine with the remote and not the start button in the cabin? Thanks
Without hands on diagnosis, I would suspect a potential problem with the vacuum booster losing its vacuum. Could be as simple as the check valve leaking off or could be a defective booster assembly. That would cause the pedal to be harder than normal until engine starts and vacuum in the booster is replenished. I'm not sure what kind of interlock switch is present on the brake pedal, but if it is such that the pedal must move a certain distance to make the switch this might be something to consider.
Exactly. If your truck won't start with the start button, push very firmly on the brake pedal. That'll do the trick almost every time.
