Default Help Please: Installing LED Cargo Light Conversion and Reverse LEDs

Hi guys. Two separate lighting projects, but I figured a single thread should be fine.

-----

First is replacing the CHMSL/ third brake light and cargo light housing. I unscrewed the T20 screws, and started to remove the stock housing, but I'm not certain where the little plug actually is. Do I need to yank out more of the black wiring hardness? I was looking for the little plug plastic connector where I will need to file off the outside edge channel off the new LED housing.

Comparison for reference (Halogen on top, LED on bottom):

Second is installing LED reverse lights. I was able to easily remove the tails without issue. My problem is that the LED bulb that I ordered from Amazon - Phillips 921 LED ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) does not fit in. It is too small compared to the stock bulb that goes in there.

Am I being dumb, or is this just the wrong bulb for the reverse lights?

Didn't anticipate any issues on these small projects. Thanks in advance.

I didn't find a plug either. I spliced it in. Works great

I know for a fact there is a plug, from this thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/cargo...elting-315854/

Ideally I'd like to not hacking into my brand new truck's wiring if at all possible.

On your second picture the two plastic connectors need to be pushed out and the connectors are right there.

you're going to have a hard time putting the plastic tabs back, maybe using a brake spoon, I managed to get one back in and that was ok for me, it wasn't going anywhere.

Missed you second ?, your reverse(backup) light from amazon is the wrong one bud, you need a 3156 bulb.

Thanks for the link TM. Makes sense now. I actually noticed a defect on my LED housing, so I'm going to try to exchange it for a new one before I have another go at this.

Brendon - that sucks. I swear I saw that Phillips bulb linked a million times for reverse LEDs. Is there a preferred 3156 bulb company? I'd prefer not to order from a random Chinese company off eBay. Prefer Osram, Sylvania, or Phillips. Thanks.

Also - while I am at it, what is the bulb for the brake bulb? I may as well do all bulbs in the tails while I am at it. And does the brake one need to be "red" in color?

I feel like I've seen these on the forum before? https://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-ZEVO...6+led+sylvania Thoughts?
