Default Help with Navigation and/or SYNC

Just bought a new to me 2016 F-150 Lariat. Love the truck. However, the Navigation system can't locate most of the addresses I enter. My house was built 12 years ago and it does not know my street. I saw a thread on how to update the map but it required the VIN and an "ESN" (I believe from the head unit). I obviously have the VIN. I cannot locate the ESN. I turn on the truck and go to general settings on the head unit. I go to "About" and it gives me the SYNC 3 version (3.0 I believe) and the Map version (1.14 I think) but there is no ESN.

I tried just connecting my iPhone using the USB cord thinking I could use Waze or Google Maps. The only Apps I get to show up are Sirius and I Heart Radio.

Ideas? I really did search on here and read a lot of posts but still not sure what to do. Thanks

To use Carplay on your system you will need a new USB Hub. The one that originally came with the 2016's was not Apple Compliant. The 17's had Apple Compliant hubs. The part number should be HC3Z 19A387 B (make sure you check a 17 optioned like yours for part number) Head to your local Ford Dealer and get one. You can install it yourself in a few minutes.

The new Maps cost $100 and up depending on which option you choose and are already two years old. The new Hub will cost you less the $50 and allow Google Maps or Waze so they are always up to date.

Also head over to owner.ford.com and register. Download the newest SYNC because that one is way out of date.

You won't be able to do anything until you get off version 1. As others said go to the ford site and download the current 3.0 version

I never thought this would be so difficult. I followed the instructions to update to version 3.0. However, when I try to load it onto the Sync, I get an error message that there is not enough memory and it does not support that version. I see there are threads on this but they are incredibly long and seem to end up changing the code. That is above my skill level. Options? Work arounds?
