Nope you can go straight to 3.0. I did it way back when.

I’m using a 32GB usb stick with no other files on it. I’ve tried it as exFAT and as FAT32. Same issue

Yes. Update came from the Ford owner website. It is version 19xxx. The only one they give me to download. I will try a different computer today. If that doesn’t work I’ll try the 2.2 version. Really just want Car Play but don’t want to buy the newer USB part unless I can update SYNC

Are you using a Windows Computer or Apple? I use my work PC to down load updates. I have tried my Apple and had issues. Go ahead and get the Hub you will get it updated.

Anyway, I wonder if I can try an earlier version of 3.0. How would i find that?

Thanks Jamie! That version went directly to my USB drive without error. I did chat with a Ford rep on the Owners website. She said it was a known issue - glad to know it wasn't just me. Interestingly, the version you gave me is the same one they have on the website. I assume the Ford version is corrupted somehow? I will install on the way home tonight. Thanks again! This site is a fantastic resource.

Thanks again Jamie! I am now on the updated version 3.0. I ordered the new USB ports and should have CarPlay this weekend. I can’t thank you enough for the help
