3.5 ecoboost. if you're buying a truck and are concerned about mpg's but plan to use the truck in ANY way like a truck (towing, etc), you're gonna need to get the 'economy' out of mind.

I wrangled with this decision for 5 months, but it was mostly between the 2.7 and 3.5. 2 things sold me on the new 3.5: direct AND port fuel injection (keep those intake valves clean!) and the 10sp auto. BOOM. Love my truck.

i put 60,000 plus miles on a 2011 3.5 ECO 4x4 XLT and averaged about 1MPG better than my 2017 2.7 ECO 4x4 XLT at 30,000 miles. Same route and I rarely tow.... maybe once a year. I would take the 3.5 ECO if I had a do ever... that being said, I do love the 2.7 other than losing 1 MPG, no complaints

I know a few guys with the 5.0. In each case , the 373's achieve at least 2 mpg more than the 355's.and even more when compared with the 331's. the consensus is that the 5.0 likes to rev for optimum results.
