Default Help me pick an engine!

Alright f150 experts...

Currently driving an 2015 XLT 3.5 ecoboost and LOVE it. Has around 20k miles on it at this point. Sad part is that I didn't think i'd need 4x4.. man was I wrong. So now I'm planning on getting a 2017 Lariat 4x4 and have the option of choosing an engine. I've driven all 3 and can honestly say I'd pick any of them.

I drive mostly freeway/city and if I tow(rarely) it's an aluminum stock trailer with maybe 3 horses in it. Max 6,000 lbs. Huge nut on fuel efficiency, but still keeping the 5.0 in my view. That's because i've heard non-stop that I should be getting a v8 if I want my engine to last past 100k... The ecoboosts are amazing but are they really proven? I'm not a mechanic by any means and don't want to deal with repairs or extra maintenance.

I'm pretty lost guys, let me know what you think. Thanks!

sounds like the 2.7 is your best bet. And yes it will last well over 100k.

F150ecoboost forums have a lot of 100k and several 200k mile ecoboosts. Not proven?

This debate has literally been raging ad nauseam for 6 years. If you don't really tow then get the 2.7. Since you have driven them, why do you need a stranger's opinion?

If youre buying the motor for mpg, you shoudnt buy a truck much less a 4wd. Realistically you are looking at what, $5-$8 a tank between all the motors? For me it come down to sound bc there isnt really a wrong motor or a bad choice. IMO If youre towing the horse trailer a couple times a year, the 2.7 will be ok, more than that 5.0 or 3.5.

haha good luck. picking an engine is a hard choice. especially when all 3 are good. so do u want na 5.0 or small boosted , or large boosted?

personally i like power. no i don't need it. there is no justification in having anything more then the 2.7 for me. except for the smile factor when slamming the throttle at the light. i have had 2 3.5eb now. great motors to me. i would love a 5.0 equally but neither of my 2 newer truck had that option as i wanted them. hell i may steal apples truck for a few min if he is "ok" driving mine lol. now watch apples want to "steal" mine also. that there is a testament to the hard choice u face. @apples if we can tag a friend here.
