Help!
Help! My wife's truck keeps dieing on her. 15 platinum with ecoboost. While driving, Hill start assist, advance Trac, and other warnings come on but no engine light. The truck shutters violently then looses power. Turn the truck off then starts up again. Dealer said it was something with the gauge cluster that needs to be replaced...sounds suspicious after reading posts from people with similar issues saying throttle body or other sensor. Any ideas?
Hill Start, AdvanceTrac, Descent Control, Sway Control, ect... all are features that need throttle position data to do their jobs. When that data fails to match other inputs (Ex. throttle sensor says the throttle is closed but MAP says you've moving a lot more air than you can at closed throttle), those features are disabled. When they get disabled, they all send out notifications.
That tech thinks the notifications originate in the gauge cluster, and it's bad. They do not, and he's the thing that has gone bad.

Nah it makes sense. If CEL comes on, replace the bulb. Must be a faulty bulb . . . .
