It looks to me that something round hit the headlamp about where I have it circled. Could it have been a mudflap spring hangar from a truck-tractor? One came off a truck here a few years ago. Went through the windshield of a car going the opposite direction and killed the driver.

I guess you figured by now that it's definitely debris!
I had this in a '70 Mustang while cruisin' thru Colorado years back!
Lucky there was no body damage.
Just stopped at an AutoZone for a replacement headlight!
Then kept cruisin'!....

I would check around on ebay or salvage yards for the trim piece, you may be able to find one your color and not have to get it painted. I would buy the parts and repair myself if I was you but you could turn it into your insurance and it should fall under comprehensive coverage since it was debris in the road that caused it. Typically the comprehensive has a lot lower deductible. I had a piece of 3/4 rebar hit our 2012 Cruze, it hit the metal bumper and turned it back out otherwise it would have done a lot of damage. Luckily it wasn't a little higher or it could have been bad. This fell under comprehensive and only I had to pay the $100 deductible.

the bezel was damaged because it was hanging down far enough to drag on the street. That piece is recessed. if something bounced up it wouldve hit the bumper first (id think).....
It must've been something that the outer part of the tire caught and sent it forward. There's no way that something coming at the vehicle would send the debris field as far forward as it did.
I was travelling roughly 30-35 mph. Its still strange as hell...virtually no noise when it happened..
Thanks everyone for the responses...
