Default Hard shifting

Has anyone had any issues with a hard Jerry shift from reverse to drive? My 18 is crazy how hard it shifts.

Just curious.

Try coming to a complete stop before shifting into drive.

If I am moving it’s barley. If not stopped.

Always, or only when cold? During the very cold winter days, my first shift to reverse is harsh, but after warm-up, no issues.

Mine does it, and it's been getting more frequent. Completely stopped, going R to D or D to R. It's hard enough it feels like someone hit me (gently) in the rear.

I'm only at 1 year and 15K on the clock, so I've just been riding it out. I've got plenty of time if it's going to crap the transmission.

My 2018 3.5 with approximately 6500 miles did it today when cold. Shifted from park to reverse and transmission was very harsh. it did not feel right at all. I did it several times and it was consistently harsh. I’ll do more experiments in the coming days to see if reverse is harsh after all warmed up.

2018 2.7 Stx Sep build, 4.5k. Does it reliably when cold every time...hard. shifts to reverse the same... hard..shifts 3-4-5 hang noticeably cold and less pronounced hot...It's banged into gear hard 3-4-5 a few times too ....I'm getting tired of these out of spec shift tendencies, I can't imagine the engineers designed it this way. After only having the truck for 6 months I'm due for my first oil change has anybody had any luck getting this fixed under the warranty? I assume it's a shift solenoid or valve body!?

Something I've had going on for some time (2018 f150, just turned a year old). My hard shifts have greatly decreased while driving but still has some weird quirks on occasion, have a little over 15,000 miles, but reverse is still alive and kicking. Does it randomly, sometimes not at all when cold but say I drive 10 minutes down the road and make a quick stop, get back in and it's there. Went to pull my boat out of the garage yesterday, back out of driveway slams into reverse, back into driveway to hook up slams into reverse, put it into neutral and reverse again to see if it would do it again and sure enough slams back into reverse.
As you mentioned it's pretty violent and no way designed to do this, I worry about longevity of transmission, as what is this doing to the trans? I've had it into the dealer multiple times for other items and added this to the list to check out and they can't recreate as it is seemingly random so don't want to address it further.

Today the harsh shift from park to reverse did not occur after sitting for several days. My suspicion is the truck thought it was in 4x4 lo. The dial has never moved from 4x2. I decided to do some experiments with how the truck feels when shifting from park to reverse when in 4x4 hi, 4x4 Lo, and 4x2. When I moved the dial to 4x4 Lo the same harsh shift from park to reverse occurred. Does anyone know if this seems like the IWE vacuum issue that seems to be problematic on some vehicles? My vehicle is 2018 3.5 XLT 4x4.

This has nothing to do with the IWE system.
Remember, in 4L, torque is multiplied, so hard shifts should be expected. The rest of the time needs to be taken in and looked at.
