Default Hail damage....

Well just picked up my 18 brand new July 3rd, we just got hit with heavy hail about the size of those little oranges. 11k in damages being reported from multiple PDR places. Hood is by far the worst. Should I be pushing for a replacement hood vs PDR if the cost is about the same? Anyone else had hail on the new trucks yet?

Nice truck, like that color combo...really sorry to hear about the hail. I would push for replacement of any panel that can be replaced if the damage is excessive, aluminum is really difficult to perform pdr on. Good luck.

My truck came delivered with hail damage (came from another dealership and the person picking it up didn't notice it). Dealer sent someone to do some PDR on the hood and he removed 10 dents without issue. They were probably the size of a thumbnail. There are probably 10 more on the roof but I told them not to worry about it.

I'm very happy with the PDR results on my hood.

I had just gotten my hail damage repaired. It was nickel and dime sizes, but 30 or so on the hood alone, also some on the roof, cracked windshield, and a few on the door panel. They did PDR on it, and you can't even tell it was damaged. I was pretty surprised how well it turned out. I can't say how it'll look in a few years, but being aluminum doesn't have a memory like steel does, I'm hopeful. I guess it depends on the quality of the shop you go to, and if they can work with aluminum as to how well it'll turn out.

I feel your pain, didn't even have my for 3 weeks before a 20 minute hailstorm dinged the crap out of it. Most of mine is on the hood and driver's fender. already got a quote and they just said they'd replace the hood and pdr the small dents on the fender and the 3 on the driver's door.

Spoke with insurance today- telling me they will not replace hood unless the damage incurs while he is popping dents. I personally would rather just shoot a new hood and probably will as I have a line on a used one for 50 bucks, just need to paint.

Driving to work and it starts hailing just a few hours ago, dreading going out in the morning to see if there's any damage. I feel your pain man, good luck though.

So, I would like to update this **** storm of events...maybe it will save someone some headaches down the road....

Filed a claim July 17th - Insurance came out, stated it was only a few thousand. Took it to my local body shop which I use all the time. He states the bid is way off, which I expected, and states he will contract the work out for PDR to a local guy he uses all the time with top notch work. He will be responsible for repaint on the hood as they decided to replace, decal re lay, and re installation of belt moldings, windshield moldings ect.. I dont have rental coverage, but luckily I was leaving state for work in Virginia for a month. They agree the work can be completed in that time frame with no issue. I decide to detail the truck, so they can see all dents and not have to mess with washing- Hit the entire truck with Hydrosilex, and it looks like a mirror (with alot of hail damage) We get a check cut for 8600 for initial. I sign off, hand it to the body shop and he cuts me a check for my tonneau cover and hood (which I pre purchased from a friend that went with a cowl). Hurricane florence hits, due to my line of work, we are pulled from Virginia coast lines and shipped to Pittsburgh due to safety concerns. A week later we get word we will be in North Carolina assisting FEMA and Red Cross. I notify the body shop and PDR guy that they do have some extra time, and reiterated how I expect nothing more than perfection (truck is brand new) they tell me they were able to get another 5K in supplements to replace certain pieces and panels outside. Great - sounds like the PDR guy is making great headway. I message him ask for some photos, state he has some in files and will send them later, never sent. September 21st, Notify I wont be back until 10/4. Great, they were happy to have more time but assured me great progress was being made. I message a few days prior to return visit home, I get assured body guy will have truck that evening to install hood and belt moldings ect. I message my body guy, wheres my truck.. He calls, states he doesn't have it. We 3 way the PDR guy, he states he needs another day to get it put together. Great no worries. I wont be home till late 10/4 anyway and most likely 10/5/. I message my body guy 10/4 asking how it turned out. States he still doesn't have my truck. I call my PDR guy, states the truck is in a random warehouse he is renting as his shop in lees summit didn't have room. Truck is located in Warrensburg Mo which is approx 40 mins away. My body guy knows nothing. He was told truck would be inside a building and locked up. IN LEES SUMMIT. I call the PDR guy, absolutely livid but trying to keep my cool. Where is my truck? Oh...its umm here at the shop, work looks great, but due to other people bringing their vehicles in he needs an additional week. Keep in mind he has had the truck for over a month and a half... He refuses to give me address to where the truck is located. 2 hours later, threatened to report the vehicle stolen i get an address of an old warehouse in Warrensburg, he calls and tells me he is heading to enterprise to get me a rental and is paying for it. Cool. I still would like to see the progress. I arrive, hes gone, truck is pulled outside. ABSOLUTELY FILTHY (keep in mind truck was detailed prior to delivery to body shop) exterior is filthy, rear bed rails loose, headliner has several creases in it, the brand new ceramic tint is scratched (I assume from headliner removal) and it doesn't appear any work has been done. Walk around the truck further and see a scratch down passenger bedside and a crack in rear tail lamp. At this point i am pissed, start the truck, and compare miles to where it was when I dropped it off...nearly 250 more than when I dropped it off. Interior reeks of cigarette smoke (I dont smoke) and I have mud on the carpet and seats of my brand new truck. I tear into the guy pretty good -grab the keys hop in the truck and leave. I reach out to the body guy on his personal cell - let him know whats going on and he states he doesn't have the insurance money and already paid him. PDR guy states he never got paid. So I call american family asking what can be done.. .nothing they say...its a civil case. after further review, I am missing my stake pocket covers, my hitch is stolen and some personal items from inside the vehicle. Body guy states he will make it right, I have a meeting with him Monday AM - I will be there when they open waiting. Thoughts? Lawyer up? Do I have a case? Nothing was repaired, truck in worst shape than when I dropped it off with more miles and no fuel. Truck has 3600 miles. Can ford credit assist?

Wow.

Nothing to do with Ford Credit. Sounds like someone committed insurance fraud.
