Default Got the HARD DOWNSHIFT software upgrade

Prologue: truck manufactured late January 2016.

When in the mountains, cruse set, descending a steep hill, auto shifting from 6 to 5 then BANG when going into 4th.

And I do mean BANG! What the hey...................?!!!!! "WHAT DID YOU HIT BACK THERE?" screams Wifey!

Call dealer and asked about the TSB on the shift update. My VIN not in the batch, but bring her in anyway. Made an appointment.

Twenty minutes in the stall, re-flash the thing. Good to go.

Could tell immediately in the parking lot. Smmmmmoooooth shifting. Power steering even feels better and smoother.

Headed for our steepest hill. Set up the down hill scenario, GOOD TO GO. Auto downshifts like butter now.

Nice, my 12 would randomly bang, from 4th to 3rd, when downshifting.

UPDATE: Just returned from a 400 mile mountain trip. Downshifts were perfect. No big bang when auto down-shifting to forth.

Man I think they should just do this for everyone. I'll be towing an airstream later next year and I dint want to find out in that trip that I have this problem.

Is there any way to test for this without towing?

In my case, no towing, just an empty truck. Set the cruise at 60 mph and go down a long steep hill.

She will automatically shift down to fifth and then into forth to maintain the 60 mph.

Before the fix she would bang into forth. The upgrade fixed it.

Well, I was out driving the other night in my 16, and I didn't get a BANG as you all say, but it was a bit rough. Rougher than I recall having previously.

I went to my local ford dealer, since I'm out of b to b warranty they want to charge $120 to do the flash, is that correct or was Jim Bob the service guy correct? Does this fall under powertrain/warranty? If so I am still under power train warranty.
