Also took a 2 mpg hit in fuel mileage... The 5.0 is a great motor but the 2015 Eco I replaced it with has me grinning again. I don't believe your comment that I previously referenced is based on factual info as much as perceived ideology. I have had no major issues with either of the two 5.0 engines or the two Eco engines that I have had the pleasure to own..
I'm leaving a '12 FX4 3.5L EB 3.73 for a '15 Platinum 5.0L 3.55. I've got 56K miles on it now, it shudders and misses the more I drive it, and over 56K miles, I've averaged a whopping 15.8 MPG with 80-85% of my miles being flat highway at 70 to 75 MPH. Sure, it has pep, but guess what? I don't trust the way it's running now, and I'm sick and tired of living the LIE of 15 city / 21 highway mileage. It shouldn't be named Ecoboost - it should be named Egoboost. Looking foward to the same solid performance from a Coyote in my F150 as I get from my '14 Mustang GT. No, not the same HP and torque, but most certainly more predictable.

My '12 EB with 56K miles is going bye-bye. I'm not dealing with the crap anymore.

Diesels are direct injection but are considered "long term". Is there a difference in the way the diesel burns? (Feel like there would be more build up with them) Can't say direct injection and turbos are not reliable. I haven't put that many miles on my eco, but my dad has put on 70000 with lots of heavy pulling and hard working and it runs just as good as day one. Amazing truck. 2013 fx4.

That's what happens with the mpg when the carbon starts to build up and its not just Ford. You have to drive a EB(GDI) a certain way(which most people don't do if they want mpg's). They are great at first, allows the Auto Co's to meet gov standards(only 10 years till the deadline) and then who cares as long as they make it to 60k. I'm going from a 2004 300hp 5.4 to a 5.0L 385hp with better mpg, I don't need or want a EgoBoost. Get a normally aspirated V8 while you can. Here is a sign of whats to come, a Raptor with a V6! Anybody remember the Mustang II, everybody makes bad decisions now and then.

Just noticed your post what way are you supposed to drive the EB? Is it because of the turbo? Just trying to figure out what engine would be better over the long run, and mpg. Thanks
