Default Getting ready to order

Hi all. Been lurking for quite a while and own an 01 4X4 SCREW since 2000. When almost new we took it from Mexico to Canada doing about 700 miles of it off road. It is equipped with a Mile Marker hydraulic winch, Rancho 900s, and some serious lighting. It's about time to replace her so I have been doing quite a bit of research. Needs have changed, but looking at the FORD build site their lack of clarity hasn't, and sales staff product ignorance still makes talking to one of them frustratingly pointless.

I have settled on an extended cab 4X4 with a 6.5' box, with a 5.0. It will be a Lariat with 502a option package, tow package, and 18" wheels and 3.73 diff. I have some pretty specific questions that the dealer isn't able to answer and appreciate any info I can get.

1. I understand that the Max payload package comes with a beefier frame, heavy springs, and 9.75" diff. That is the only place I can see a heavier frame, springs, and 9.75 specified, but wonder if other options may trigger them. The Ford build site does not offer the max payload on any short bed extended cab and doesn't offer max tow on the 5.0. Question: Does anyone know of any option selection that will trigger the heavy frame, 9.75 rear, heavy springs (any or all of them) on a 6.5' bed extended cab 4X4 with 5.0?

2. I'm assuming that I can't get the items in 1, so looking for the weight data for the same truck loaded as best I can on the build site. Can someone with these options tell me what you show for max gross, payload, max tongue weight, and max combined? I'm trying to figure out exactly how much truck payload headroom I have left towing my 7,000lb enclosed.

3. Can someone tell me exactly what is included in the CNG prep package, and has anyone tested a CNG conversion on the new 5.0? I know about the valve seats and manifold, but wondering what else.

4. I'll really miss my Mile Marker hydraulic winch. I use it very regularly on my old screw and hate the idea of going electric almost enough to not get an F150. Does anyone have experience with a high quality hidden front winch mount? This need is why an intercooler up front is not really an option.

5. Do the tow mirrors in any way impact function of the blind spot indicating system or lane keeping system?

Thanks for the info.
Mike

I can answer number 2. I have a extended cab, known as a super cab. It has the 7040 GVW package. It lists on the door jamb sticker that it can carry 1940 pounds. This is for an XLT, I guessing you can knock a couple hundred pounds off of that number for a Lariat since it has more options. I think the 7040 GVW is an upgrade for GVW but is not the max payload. My truck also has the tow package. As far as I know the max payload is the only way to get those upgrades.

#1 - they call it the Heavy-duty Payload Package, not max tow. Max tow is different animal but is almost always part of the HDPP. You can order the HDPP on the 5.0 (2wd or 4wd) in any cab, but not with a short bed. It gets you a GVWR of 7850 with the 18" wheels.

I ordered the HDPP on my 2018 SCREW 3.5EB 6.5 bed.

To clarify, I'm looking to add heavy duty components on a extended cab with 6.5' bed and 5.0. I'm not interested in the 8' bed, I'm just needing the payload capacity in the truck while towing. This not showing on the build site is the reason I'm asking here. Back in 2000 I was able to order several things not showing in the build site. Just checking if the knowledge pool here knows of any way to do it. I'm not seeing availability on any 145" wheelbase combination.
Thanks,

Can't do that combo, at least not with the HDPP frame. 7050 GVWR is as high as you can go.

Thanks,
As mentioned, with the extended bed HDPP requires the 8 ft bed. If you want to stay with the 6.5' bed you have to go to a crew cab if you want HDPP. Also, HDPP isn't available in any 502 package. 500 is the highest trim you can get with HDPP. For what you want, the F250 may be a better option. I nearly got one before ordering my xlt HDPP F150. The reason I didn't was the F250 was too high for some places I park. Plus I prefer the 3.5EB over the naturally aspirated options. But I you don't have height restrictions, the F250 is really nice and doesn't really cost more with a gas engine.

Bump,
Still looking for some info. Here is where I am so far.
1. Can't be done, however, I'm hearing that the 3.73 electronic locking may get me the 9.75, we'll see as I am ordering the 3.73.

2. Still looking for the door sticker info from someone with the following. Lariat, supercab, 4x4, 5.0, tow package, 6.5' box, 502a package, 3.73 diff, 35 gallon tank, 18" wheels, no moonroof. I don't think any other options will make much difference. Thanks for the response dodgeman1, but I'm looking for payload and max for this specific combo.

3. Still looking for more info on the CNG package. Most concerned that it may cause a delete of another feature that I want.

4. Found a nice hidden winch plate. As I suspected, there are none that work with the ecoboost, but a few that work with the 5.0.

5. Still looking for info on the tow mirrors interacting with blind spot and lane keeping.

If you're looking to maximize your payload, then you should not be looking at a Lariat and higher models.

3. Can't think of a single person ever posting that they got this feature. My understanding is that it adds hardened components, it doesn't delete anything.

Thanks,
The Lariat is a definite, however, trying to maximize potential payload given all constraints. I'm not getting a longbed, EB motor, supercrew, or an F250. I will upgrade as required to meet my needs, but prefer to get the most possible using factory options. It's too bad that salesmen can't find basic information about the products they sell.

There are 2 different 9.75s both with ELD. The 4800 lb version can only be gotten with the HDPP. The one for your spec is 3800 RAWR.
