General consensus on bug and window deflectors
I don't care for bug deflectors but Side Window Deflectors are a must on all my vehicles.

Had both on my Xterra. Did nothing for bugs on the windshield but it looked good and probably took some rocks. Have the 3M film on the F-150 so don't need it. Window deflectors were great for being able to crack the windows open in the rain. For some reason I always need the window cracked, fresh air or being able to hear traffic, dunno, just a thing. Window deflectors should definitely be at least semi transparent.
I very seldom ever crack my windows (if moving) but I use them to release the 100* (100% Humidity) heat from the vehicle!
It makes about a 30* difference in the Summer time having them open as opposed to closed.

Agree with all responses regarding side window deflectors. Use them in rain, to vent vehicle while parked, and most importantly while enjoying a cigar! I always put smoked Weathertechs on all my vehicles.
As for hood deflector, my approach is wait until chipped then cover up. At 18k miles it is not bad at all so will be able to go a couple years with a preferred look and then at some point I will install one of the form fitting ones.

Any time I have a customer ask about bug deflectors, I ask why they want it. They don't keep bugs off the windshield, they don't allow you to use your washer fluid at 80mph, they don't help your wipers stay down on the windshield at 80mph.
They do prevent rock chips on the front of your hood, they do come loose and rattle, they do break when going through car washes and they won't be covered under warranty if damaged by a car wash.
If they actually used 5 tabs that get screwed on versus the 3 screwed in and 2 slide ons, they would be better, but until they go back to that style I won't recommend anyone get one.
