He also told me that I have to supply the mileage when ordereing because the new cluster will come programed with the mileage ready to go. They ship them over night service. Technically the dealer is to do this swap so no milage funny business happens thats why they come pre programed and the vehicle stays at the dealer untill the swap is done. On the part numbers the dealer uses FL3T-10849-CJJ or CJG when he orders them but the parts book number for the customer is FL3Z-10849-CJA also both FL3T numbers are the same now (one cluster for both part numbers) Hope this info helps. will report back when i get the cluster
You'd be a lot better off money wise waiting until a used one comes up for sale from a salvage yard. No core charge this way and you'd probably only end up paying $450 total including mileage correction programming.

True on a used one but they seem to be hard to get at least domestic ones do not want to mess with the ones from Canada. I have already spent alot on other upgrades like power fold mirrors, doing ambient lighting and adding raptor roof console with uplifter switches and superduty relay box for those switches so whats another $900.00 lol. I know should have purchased a Lariat but whats the fun in that.

Need a Hill Descent Control switch? I've got one for sale for a bargain at $500!

Anyways, since I have a 2016 I can't toroughly test it like someone with a 2017 could so if anyone following this thread has a 2017 XLT and was thinking of upgrading to the 8" cluster, please pm me for details. Below is a picture of the cluster (it shows km/h faceplate but I'll change that to mph faceplate). It will ship with the Limited tachometer faceplate shown. I'm doing this because I want to be 100% sure that I can take any 2015-2016 cluster and flash 2017 firmware to it and that the cluster will behave exactly the same in a 2017 truck as a factory cluster would function.

Note: this cluster is not for anyone with a 2015-2016 truck as there will be issues with locking of gears out on the vertical display.

The guage cluster arrived today and had enough time to get it installed. So far it looks like everything is working and the gear lockout is working just like it should. Really do love the bigger cluster.!!

So unless Josh finds something down the road that doesn't perform properly, it seems like I can flash any 8" '15-'16 cluster with '17 firmware and have it work in a '17.

It kills me that we can't find the 2016 firmware anywhere. It would be one less thing to buy when adding the Trailer Backup Assist.

Yeah I was shocked when I originally flashed that '15 cluster to '17 firmware and I had issues with the gears locking out on the display correctly on my '16 and thought "oh well...I'll just put '15 or '16 firmware back on it" only to discover it's not available

OMG!!!!

I just updated the software I use for firmware writing and it said there is a 2016 IPC update available for my truck. So I was just able to grab all the 2016 firmware files!!! So with these files I can take a 2015 cluster to 2016 firmware and it will work for Pro Trailer Backup Assist and it will add the Brake Effort (low/med/high) under Towing screen.
