Default FX4 package or Not

Looking at 2 identical trucks (2020 XLT) except one has FX4 package and other doesn't. Will probably never do any off roading but do occassional take truck on beach. Also tow a 6500 lb boat 2-3 times per year. Can get a better deal on the non FX4 truck. Opinions?

FX4 rides a little stiffer. I'd persoanlly opt not for it if it's a choice.

Drive them both, see if you feel a difference in ride quality. If not, buy whichever one is cheaper. The FX4 shocks are not any better than stock 4x4 shocks. The FX4 comes with skid plates and hill decent assist, that's about it. If the 4x4 is cheaper than the FX4, and you can live without the FX4 "upgrades", then just buy the 4x4.

They have the same rear end/differential?

I'd get the less expensive non-fx4.

Sometimes, in a case like this that I am fortunate enough to have two vehicles I'd buy I negotiate off the lower priced one and then see if I can switch to more expensive one to close the deal.

Don't let FX4 be a consideration. Price should be. I rarely use any of the FX4 package features.

The FX4 over a Max Tow will get you Softer Front Shocks (Don't know why everyone thinks they are stiffer They have reduced compression damping to keep the tire from "skipping"). Hill decent control, The Off-Road Inclination Display Option in the panel and skid Plates. Of course you also get the sticker.

If they are both Max Tows I would not buy the FX4. You are paying for the Elocker twice. If you are not getting the Max Tow package FX4 isn't really that expensive because without it you have to pay for the Elocker as a stand-alone option.

My 19 STX is the FX4 package but only because it was on the color I wanted. My neighbor is a general sales manager for Ford and actually knows cars. When I was looking he told me the only thing included on the FX4 package now is skid plates, a sticker and supposedly different shocks, that if you can tell the difference between those and a non-FX4 he would give me the truck. That all being said I can say it does feel like my truck rides a little stiff, but I don't have any experience in a non-FX4 truck to compare to.

Doesn't the FX4 have some downhill crawl type mode?
