Default Fx4 or not

Finding a perfect truck has been a challenge to me. The one I found closely matching does not have fx4 but everything else. I know that fx4 provides hill desent control and stiffer shocks. Is there anything else which I will miss ?

Also adds skid plates and the treasured FX4 sticker

Depending on the tow package (reg or max) it may result in the 3.55 gears - not 100 on this. Ones I saw WITHOUT fx4 and the reg tow package often had the 3.55 gears as an added line option (though only 50).

If you plan to go off-road, it may be worth saving around $700 if the rest of the truck is "right". Can always change shocks.

The E-Locker and skid plates. I tow in mud and down steep graval roads so I got it. I've gone years without the hill decent and e-locker so I haven't found a situation where it did something I couldn't without it.

Lots of people are getting the RCI Metalworks skid plates and I've even thought about getting them for my truck.

I got it on mine just for the e locker, which is $420 alone outside the fx4 package, but I think it may have been a contributing factor in why my max load capacity is only 1278 lbs, which is pitiful. Had I known that going in I may have left it off. I ordered my truck.

Forgot about the e-locker... Good point. And you're likely right - the skid plates add weight which could have gone to payload

Elocker does not lower payload to my knowledge, skid plates do but are light and thin.

Yeah no, I was referring to the rest of the package. I have nothing to back up my thought, I just thought there might be something in the package that contributed to it. But really it was probably just my moonroof haha

This truck equipped with 3.73 axle ratio for $570 . Trailer tow , spary-on, 36G tank, chrome, nav, twin panel etc. 54670 MSRP and I am offered 49474. Last day of month. I will go to dealer and see if I can negotiate more. Only thing missing was fx4. No one mentioned Hill decent importance. I have a GL450 (MB) and never used that in last 9 years. I will be doing light towing (motorcycles or atv) . Seems like other than locker which it already has, i may not miss anything.

Probably not other than a button for a feature you're likely to never use

I have an FX4 and like you just tow motorcycles and ATV. I've never used hill decsent control or the e-locker for that matter. If the truck has everything you like, I'd go for it.
