Default Front Strut Replacement

2016 F150 xlt 4x4. I have been doing some reading on this topic, and I just want to make sure that there is really no easy way to just take the strut out of the spring and leave the spring installed in the truck? I am new to f150's. I would like to put some 5100's in the front end, but if it is not so easy to do, I will just have the local shop go ahead and do it. Is there a good thread to read up on this procedure? Thanks.

Nope, no way to do that. I'd suggest just get some coilovers, much easier and safer than screwing around with coils. Or, remove them and take them to a shop to swap the shocks, or, let a shop just do the whole thing.

that's the "Leveling Kit" thread, a lot of reading, and a lot of good info, some shaky too. Ford Tech Makalucco has some good videos on utube.

Thank you very much. That is what I was afraid of. I wish it was easy so I could just do it myself, just like the rear shocks.

Whatever way you go, it's more involved than the rears, but it really isn't that difficult as far as pulling the olde, and sticking in the new. If you're up in northern lower Michigan, bring it over and we can knock it out in a few hours, that is if you decide on coilovers. Shock only replacement takes longer.
Those UTube videos, you need to take most with a grain of salt and a smile, that guy I mentioned has about the best and correct way to do most things I've seen from him. He has a bunch of videos on a lot of different procedures.

I'm in Barton City, 35 miles south of Alpena, and about 9 miles southwest of Hubbard Lake. I used to jump on 75 everyday right there driving a big truck out of Mio. We're not that far apart relatively speaking for up here.

Not too far at all, really, just did a color tour loop through Alpena last weekend. I love the country-side between me and Alpena.
