Default Found part in engine compartment

I just bought a 2016 ford f 150 xlt 4x4 crewcab and I found this part, part number is BU5T-14099-BA. Can any one tell me what this is and do I need it?

Call the parts department with the number. It is most likely the manufacturer's engineering part # vice a Ford part #. I ran into a similar issue when trying to confirm trailer tow package part numbers.

So its just a part laying in the engine compartment, not hooked to anything? Is it in original packaging? Pics?

Default Picture of Port found

Sorry for the delay and thank you to everyone that's reaching out I really appreciate it. So here is the picture it looks similar to a thread that is on here before so I'm hoping it's just a plug that protects the pins in a wire harness.

My truck had 2 of those but they were in my cupholder not my engine compartment. I don't know what they're for so I kept them just in case.

Do you have a back-up camera?

One suggestion is to look at your tailgate camera plug and see if this fits when you unplug it. Should you need to remove your tailgate for any reason, this protects the truck side plug from debris.

I remember that thread... just can't remember what the part was for.

Seems it was something that should have been discarded. I'd hang on to it like "Tat2dcoyote" did but I'd be more than surprised if you ever find that you need it.
