Ford put a HOLD on releasing F150's

My truck was to be built on 8/15/15 as well and my dealer has informed me that the truck has been built but it is sitting in Kansas City awaiting transport. First ETA was 8/28, then 9/1, and no nobody knows. I sure would like an explanation.

So my truck was built in ks as well, my truck is transit but has been for weeks, has your truck moved into trans or not and if not is that why you know it's still for sure in ks, my truck went trans a few weeks ago but I couldn't say for sure its left ks

It went to "in transit" status by 8/25 according to my inquiry to Ford CS.

The dealer I purchased from had three similarly spec'd Platinums (to mine) inbound ... all with a build date between 9/2 and 9/5 and all three expected late Sept (to Washington state).
I've long wondered why people order F-series trucks, given the amount of inventory maintained by the dealership network. There are four For dealerships within 25 miles of me with a total of 500 (!) F-150s in stock. That's across trim levels and powertrain choices, of course, but it wasn't hard for me to find at least a handful with the options I wanted. And two of the dealers said they'd get me whatever I wanted through dealer trade if needed, without effecting negotiated price (employee purchase program with TRUECar pricing).
I totally understand if you want very specific options, or a specific color, etc; customer order is often the only way. But for many of the people I see commenting on their order, based on their sig, why not just buy from dealer stock?
