Question Floor Jack

What height to lift for a tire change? Seeing lots of 17.5 inch jacks that are electric hydraulic.

I'm guessing you want the height from floor to frame to change the front tires?

Just went out to see. Exactly 17.5" between frame and ground in pic to easily clear tire for change. My truck has a 1.5" level, as well as larger tires (BFG advertises them as 34", but they're more like 33" in reality).

So yes, a 17.5" floor jack will work for sure on a stock truck, and even for those running a mild level with slightly larger tires also.

I use one of the Daytona jacks from Harbor Freight. 3 ton, with a 24"+ lift. I caught it on sale for right about $200.
